Position OverviewLeading architecture and interior design firm is seeking Design Associate with conceptual expertise and proven leadership success to join their New York office. As an Associate - Design you will play a key role in advancing design solutions, generating new ideas for both projects and for the systems, while maintaining enthusiasm about achieving clients' business goals through our design. Your leadership will help guide our team, clients and partners in winning and executing projects from concept through to completion by providing the direction necessary to execute project objectives.Primary ResponsibilitiesTo provide design leadership on projects, setting the direction for the client and project team while being responsible for overall quality of team members deliverablesTo set direction and tell the story of the designTo work closely with clients to ensure their concerns are being heard and they feel the "level of care" that we aspire to give them.To be a strong example of leadership to the younger design team and mentoring them on how to lead a client through the various stages of design and decision making in a smooth and enjoyable manner.Prepare, deliver and win design presentation opportunities for new medium- large sized projects on a consistent basisLead concept design and storytelling with a cross disciplinary team to define new experiences and opportunities for our clientsBrainstorm with in-house strategic planners to consider new solutions that address cultural opportunities in each project and redefine our understanding of every day paradigmsEstablish and maintain a high level of trust between the project team, client and other project stakeholdersCollaborate with contractors and subcontractors to share design and construction expertise in order to create inventive, well-crafted environmentsPerform additional responsibilities necessary to help achieve business andor project goalsActively participate in industry activities to represent the firm and network for future opportunities for the firm.Active participation in project bidding and winning stages.Job RequirementsAs an Associate - Design, you are an out-of-the-box thinker who naturally excels in holistically looking at projects from various angles and who has an exceptional knack for creating and delivering aw-inspiring fully-integrated projects for corporate workplace clients. You are a natural-born storyteller that can win work and inspire those working with you. As a leader, it is important that you are someone who loves a challenge and does not turn away from getting your hands dirty to teach others. You will have a natural flame, focus on the positive and have a passion that raises the excitement in people around you.Qualifications & Key Competencies 10-14 years of experience in workplace interior design or architectureBachelor's degree in Architecture, Design or other related field preferredProficiency in Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), InDesignA portfolio of signature conceptual design work, including some large workplace transformation projectsActive presence in the market, active engagement in industry eventsConsistent success maintaining design integrity from design concept to on-site constructionEffective in contributing to and supervising multiple projects at the same timeInterest and experience in mentoring younger designers and promoting a positive attitudeA self-starter who can motivate themselves and the team around themExcellent written, verbal and graphic communication skillsAble to prioritize effectively and thrive in a fast-moving, deadline driven environmentStrong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to change priorities quicklyAble to perform entrepreneurially as well as a collaborative in a teamEffectively communicate and work with senior leadership and members of our global teamAble to move from small project to big picture perspective in order to develop a holistic strategy geared toward design deliverablesSalary range $125K - $135K US based on experience.Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
