Job Title: PURCHASING MANAGER SR Location: Savage, MN 8401 100% onsite Overview: The Senior Purchasing Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of buyers and those involved in purchasing materials, products, and services. This role involves supplier management and ensuring that the organization acquires goods and services at the best possible price, quality, and terms. Responsibilities: Lead a team of Purchasing Agents, providing direction, support, training and development. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, MRP Procurement concepts, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Establish and manage strong relationship with suppliers. Resolve supplier grievances and issues efficiently to maintain smooth operations and minimize disruptions. Negotiation with suppliers on new contracts, price increases and cost savings opportunities. Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying of direct and non-production materials. Work to secure alternate suppliers or materials as needed. Provide planning and guidance for blanket orders and contracts to optimize flexibility and inventory impact. Implement and maintain purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures. Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. Responsible for management reporting including inventory, forecasting, shortages and cost. Identifies staffing needs, interviews, hires and trains staff and maintains a steady stream of qualified candidates. Providing guidance, training and direction, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance on a frequent basis. Identify top performers and formalize specific development plans by empowering, coaching and motivating them. Qualifications: Education needed for entry: Bachelor's degree Work experience need: At least 5 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations or other related field. Certifications: APICS Member with CPIM Certification a plus. 5+ years of supervisory experience 5+ years of MRP system experience, preferably SAP Analysis skills including database andor Excel proficiency.
