JOB POSTING: Sales Engineer - Memphis, TNABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: Rees Memphis, a leading fabricator of custom industrial solutions is seeking a Sales Engineer to join their team. Rees specializes in serving businesses within the wood products industry, including manufacturers of cabinets, furniture, and dimensional lumber. They focus on building pneumatic conveying systems designed to efficiently transfer raw materials such as plastic resin, unpackaged foodstuffs, and waste loads like sawdust. The culture is profit-driven and adventurous, empowering team members to tackle challenges head-on and seize new opportunities.POSITION OVERVIEW: The Sales Engineer will engage with clients in industrial settings, assess their needs based on equipment and building specifications, and recommend products and services to provide effective solutions. This position blends technical knowledge with sales acumen and emphasizes entrepreneurial thinking.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Meet with clients to assess potential projects and gather information from equipment and building drawings or by measuring existing equipment.Collaborate with colleagues, including subject-matter experts, to configure general solutions, assess loads, and select components for project proposals.Analyze equipment costs, installation labor and other costs to support project pricing.Engage in inside sales work and support ongoing projects during the initial training period.Conduct fieldwork with a minimum of 20% travel, primarily within a 400-mile radius of Birmingham, while managing office hours for the remainder of the time.Propose, secure, and manage multiple projects, with a target of delivering four projects in the second year.Develop warm, thoughtful, and confident presentations for clients, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to their needs.QUALIFICATIONS:Technical Experience: General technical experience is preferred, including familiarity with mechanical systems, engineering principles, and the ability to understand and interpret technical drawings. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and sell to specific product offerings.Mathematical Skills: Excellent high-school-level math skills are essential for accurate project analysis, including installation geometry, load assessments, and cost dustrial Experience: Previous experience in industrial settings is an advantage, allowing candidates to understand the unique challenges and requirements of the client's operational needs and terpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for effective communication with diverse stakeholders, including corporate executives, mill operators, and maintenance staff.Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to work autonomously while identifying and pursuing entrepreneurial opportunities for product and service innovations.Safety Awareness: Familiarity with personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocols in fieldwork environments is important to ensure compliance with safety PENSATION:Competitive annual salary with a commission on materials and installation.BENEFITS:Paid Time Off, Health insurance plan, Health Savings Account (HSA), and 401k.
