The main function of a service engineer is to represent advance serviceability of design within the Vehicle Development Process. A typical service engineer is responsible for identifying, addressing, or escalating serviceability issues as appropriate utilizing business case analysis.Job Responsibilities:• Develop and communicate service requirements.• Develop diagnostic and repair procedures.• Attend Product Development Team (PDT) Meetings, Design for Manufacturing (DFMs) and Peer reviews for assigned service subsections.• Develop service part release strategies with Service parts EngineeringDesign Release EngineersSuppliers with Subsystem Service Plans (SSSP).• Investigate and respond to Problem Tracking Reports (PTR's) (suggested service manual changes).• Investigate and respond to Quality Audit Reports (suggested service manual changes).• Review Engineering Work Orders (EWO's) for service impact and follow up as required.• Identify when special tools are required to perform a vehicle repair.• Work with the Special Tool committee to develop and validate special tools.• Occasionally perform coordination tasks and projects with a limited scope.• Complete special projects as required.Skills:• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.• Knowledge of Lotus Notes or other email communication tools.• Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally.• Strong written and verbal communication skills.• Ability to work independently and with a team.• Ability to partner with senior management to analyze and solve issues.• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.• Ability to read engineering schematics and blueprints.• Strong understanding of automotive repair.• Demonstrated electricalelectronic diagnosis and repair ability.• Valid driver's license.EducationExperience:• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.• 2-4 years of experience required.
