The Hardware Engineering Technician IV will be part of an engineering team developing power management hardware in Nickel-Zinc (NiZn) battery backup systems for multiple industries. They will be responsible for performing electrical and mechanical tests on engineering prototypes and preproduction units under the guidance of Engineers and Project managers. The selected candidate will also be supporting the development of electrical architecture and design, integration and debugging of new electrical hardware and firmware, and validation of the design in a structured engineering environment. This role will work on-site at ZincFive HQ in Tualatin, Oregon and will report to the Technical Engineering Manager.Hardware Engineering Technician IV Job Duties:Assemble prototypes of battery packs, Building Management Systems (BMSs) and Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) systemsCreate and assemble test fixturesModify circuits as directed by the engineersProvide feedback during the prototype assembly process, calling out manufacturability issues early in the design process.Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of prototype parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions and record resultsTest and monitor the performance of electrical circuits as designed by engineersHelp with electrical schematic capture and Bill of Materials (BOM) maintenanceSetup and perform reliability tests on various key system components.Participate in failure root cause analysis and support the corrective actions implementationPerform hardware and software design verification and validation testingJob Requirements:Associate's degree in applied science, Electronics4+ years of experienceAptitude in the use of hand tools for mechanical assembly, electrical soldering, and wiringExperience in prototype assembly, testing and documentationExperience reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawingsExperience with Oscilloscopes, Digital Multi Meters (DMMs), Power Analyzers, Signal Generators etc.Familiarity with Altium or similar schematic capture programExperience working in an engineering test Lab and product development environmentExperience building fixtures for test setupsExperience using data acquisition systems (DAQs)Experience working with thermal chambersExperience programming and debugging systems with microcontrollersProficient in MS Office 365 toolsPreferred Skills:Experience with Power ElectronicsExperience with Battery Management Systems (BMS)Experience with Printed Circuit Board layoutExperience with Basic 3D modeling (SolidWorks CAD)Experience running additive manufacturing equipment (FDM 3D Printer)Key Competencies:Attention to detailIntegrityData collection and analysisProblem-SolvingResults OrientationSound engineeringscientific judgmentTeamworkThe ability to assess and initiate things independentlyExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPhysical Requirements and working conditions:Work involves sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting to 40 poundsRequires close visual acuity and the ability to distinguish colorOffice, warehouse, and lab environmentsRequires the ability to wear PPE, when necessary, on the face and bodySalary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role.
