Every job and role at the Organization makes a valuable contribution to the missionand vision.Salary: $150,000 - $160,000POSITION OVERVIEWThe Vice President of Development, reporting to the Chief Development &Marketing Officer, plays a pivotal role in executing Organization 's fundraising strategy. Thismultifaceted position involves overseeing grant writing, event fundraising, foundationrelations, individual giving, in-kind giving, and volunteer engagement. Organization seeks aseasoned leader with a strong background in institutional giving to spearhead thiseffort. In addition to guiding the development team, the Vice President will personallyfocus on donor cultivation, particularly within the Economic Empowerment Program,while also managing brand partnerships.Key attributes for success include exemplary management skills, the ability to mentorstaff, adept interpersonal skills, proven experience in relationship development, andeffective cross-organizational collaboration. The ideal candidate will be adept at buildinga burgeoning private fundraising program, demonstrating a track record of securing newdonors. Oversight responsibilities encompass a team of four fundraisers, including aSenior Director of Individual Giving, Director of Development - InstitutionalPartnerships, Development Manager, and Grant Writer. Additionally, supervision of ashared admin supporting development activities is integral to this role.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLeadership and Managementï‚· Supervises the Development team and ensures that team members are coached anddeveloped.ï‚· Leads development of private donor strategy, working in collaboration withdevelopment team members and the CDMO.ï‚· Serves on the Senior Management team. Contributes to broader organizationalgoals and serves on intra-organization Committees as requested.ï‚· Ensures that the Development team has clear goals. Provides team members with theguidance and support that is needed to be effective in their respective roles.ï‚· Works with program leaders to effectively position Organizations programs.ï‚· Cultivates a culture that celebrates diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.Relationship Strategy & Managementï‚· Works with the Director of Development to lead prospecting of corporate andfoundation prospects. Prospecting to align with Strategic Plan goals, organizationalwork-plan goals, and capital needs, as determined by CDMO in collaboration withleadership.ï‚· Supports development, launch and oversight of the Friends of Organization, the EventCommittee, and the Junior Board in collaboration with team members.ï‚· Develops and implements engagement strategy for existing and new institutionalsupporters.ï‚· Supports staff in the implementation of the Corporate and Community Partnersprogram.ï‚· Works with staff to implementation and growth of the Organization's Celebration. This includessupervising fundraising strategy, supporting honoree recruitment, and supervising theoverall execution of the Organization's Celebration.ï‚· Lead relationship manager for Economic Empowerment Program donors andsupporters, along with other designated relationships for other programs.ï‚· Responsible for strategy development, in partnership with CDMO.ï‚· Responsible for strategy implementation through the supervision of the developmentteam.ï‚· Works with CDMO and VP of Marketing and Communications to develop CauseMarketing Campaigns, including working towards securing Corporate Partners.ï‚· Recommend, explore, and pursue opportunities for leveraging corporate fundraisers,(e.g., corporate runs), designating Organization as beneficiary.ï‚· Prepares backgrounder summary for prospects and donors in advance of meeting.Prepares leadership for visits and meetings.ï‚· Manages moves management for corporate prospects in the donor database.ï‚· Ensures strong case for support is developed for core areas of fundraising.FundraisingGrantsï‚· Supervises development staff in the writing and assembly of proposals and reports tofunders and donor prospects.ï‚· Uses CRM database to manage relationships, reports due, pending proposals, andprospects.ï‚· Provides guidance and feedback on proposal development and supports theDevelopment team in the creation of proposals, including addressing internal barriers tosuccess.ï‚· Works with Development and Program teams to align Organizations needs with grantopportunities.ï‚· Ensures that a full pipeline of vetted prospects has been identified and that there is anengagement strategy in place for all donors.ï‚· Promotes stewardship with funders through customized communication.MessagingVisibilityï‚· Works with MarComm to develop web and collateral content that promotes corporateengagement opportunities.ï‚· Works with corporate partner and Organization's MarCom to ensure donors seeking recognitionreceive appropriate visibility, in alignment with grant contracts and award letters.ï‚· Ensures corporate partner has logos, messaging, collateral as needed for theirpromotion of Organization's partnership.Otherï‚· Oversight of the CRM system and ensures that the CRM is maintained and optimized tosupport the team's effectiveness.ï‚· Ensures timely and accurate acknowledgement of donors.ï‚· Attend workshops, conferences, events, as requested to keep current in the fields offundraising, domestic violence and homelessness.ï‚· Complete other duties as requested based on department, organizational need and asdirected by CDO.SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATIONCERTIFICATIONSLICENSESï‚· Bachelor's Degree Required.REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEï‚· Minimum of ten years in an institutional fundraising role, and experience with the NewYork fundraising landscape. Experience with corporate and foundations fundraising.ï‚· Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and strong attention todetail.ï‚· May require occasional work outside established working hours, including eveningevents.ï‚· Passion for Organization's mission and core values.ï‚· Record of accomplishment in successfully prospecting, engaging, cultivating, and closinggifts from foundations and corporations.ï‚· Exceptional relationship building, communication skills, with the ability to engage andinspire a diverse range of audiences.
