If you are a highly motivated and experienced individual who wants to make a real-world impact, we encourage you to apply!Position SummaryAirJoule is seeking an Applications Engineer to join the application engineering team, which focuses on optimization of device performance and understanding its performance landscape. AirJoule® technology dehumidifies air with record-breaking energy efficiency, and then converts it into pure water. The role of the Applications Engineer is essential for success of the technology, because it connects basic R&D to real-world performance. This role will involve running the assembled prototypes, controlling the different subcomponent technologies within AirJoule®, and collecting performance data over a wide range of conditions. The role will also involve modeling of prototype performance, developing a performance landscape, and guiding the development of next-gen prototypes. This assignment will be located at AirJoule's headquarters in Newark, DE. The Applications Engineer should be familiar with running complex mechanical systems, controlling systems with automation software such as Labview, and developing software-based models of chemical and mechanical systems.Key ResponsibilitiesTo perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.Act as an operator of AirJoule® prototypes, including running the device, performing maintenance, QC testing, performing FMEA analysis, and troubleshooting problems that occur with the deviceOptimize device performance by balancing the chemical and physical unit operations that occur within AirJoule prototypesMaintain and operate controlled humiditytemperature chambersWork with the Applications Engineering Team to design testing campaigns with Design-of-Experiment methods, execute them with sufficient experimental rigor, compile the results and perform statistical analysis, and communicate results.Modeling of chemical and physical processes within AirJoule systems using Excel, ASPEN, DWSIM, or related software.Document experimental results in the form of PowerPoint presentations, technical report documents, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) entriesTrain new employees in the responsibilities listed herein and similar workUphold a safe, respectful, collaborative, inclusive, and appreciative team environmentEducation and Experience RequirementsBachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or related field.Experience with simulationmodeling of processes using ASPEN, DWSIM, Excel, or related software is dustrial or academic experience, 5+ years, especially with rigs, reactors, or similar complex mechanical devices, is preferredKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExperience with running multicomponent mechanical andor chemical systems, such as "˜rigs', reactors, automotives, technical prototypes, etc... including knowledge of safe operating methodsExperience process modeling of chemical andor physical systems with software such as ASPEN, Excel, DWSIM, Matlab, etc...Experience with automation of laboratory or production equipment using software such as LabVIEWExcellent organization skills, with ability to manage multiple workflows and projects simultaneouslyBasic understanding of mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, fans, motors, and HVAC systemsPassionate about hands-on work while acting as a driver with respect to project execution"˜Can-do' attitude with passion to enable the AirJoule vision, wearing multiple hats if necessaryAbility to work under pressure and flexibility towards pivotingStrong interpersonal skills and desire to work as part of a teamOther RequirementsApplicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. AirJoule is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.AirJoule's BenefitsIn addition to good working conditions and competitive pay, it is AirJoule's policy to provide a comprehensive benefits package that provides access to plans which support the overall well-being of our employees and their dependents.
