Overview:Mactec Packaging Technologies is seeking a mechanical design engineer to become an integral part of the engineering and leadership team. The job function will be to create engineering drawings for blister, pouch and rotary packaging machinery as well as taking on ad-hoc responsibilities within an entrepreneurial organization. The candidate will work directly with the senior management of the company. Mactec Packaging Technologies (is a leading manufacturer of packaging machines suitable for small to medium scale production of pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, medical device, chemical, health and beauty products, R&D and clinical applications. Job Responsibilities:Permanent position for a Sr. Mechanical Packaging Equipment Design EngineerTechnical reviews of designs include operator ergonomics, drive requirements and ratios, cam profiles, machine timing, actuator forces, pneumatic circuits, bending moments, component material selection, component ease of manufacture, cost analysis, compliance to regulatory guidelines, compliance to Company standards and similar mechanical engineering activities.Provide planning, scheduling and reporting progress status of projects to ensure timely completion of projectsContinued pursuit of standardizing and streamlining departmental processesDetailed design of components, machines, and layouts using SolidWorksBuild BOM'sDesign ancillary custom equipment (feed systems, specialized applications)Create new concepts and designs for parts and equipmentMaintain engineering softwareTroubleshoot manufacturing and packaging issuesOther duties as assigned by managementQualifications:Have BSME or equivalent experienceHave 5+ years of experience mechanical design of light industrial machineryHave 3+ years of experience in the packaging industry; Pharmaceutical, Nutraceutical, Medical Device Packaging equipment preferredProject engineering andor project management a plusKnowledge of FDA regulations on CGMP and their application in machine design Be able to conceptualize, design and communicate technical information Be innovative, resourceful and disciplined when resolving technical challengesCalculate drive requirements and ratios, cam profiles, machine timing, actuator forces and similar mechanical engineering functionsWork in a fast-paced collaborative team environmentBe proficient in pneumatic circuits and devicesFamiliarity and understanding of pumps and fluid dynamicsHave strong knowledge base of fabrication methods and processes such as milling, turning, welding, plating, and coatings with an understanding of cost impactsBe proficient in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office productsKnowledge and experience of robotic integration is a major plusBe proficient in the metric system of measurement
