Sr. Underwriter Commercial Management Liability D&O, EPLI, FLI and Crime Hybrid New York or Alpharetta / Atlanta metropolitan The Sr. Underwriter Commercial Management Liability (D&O, EPLI, FLI, and Crime) will act within established guidelines and market to analyze, review, evaluate, and monitor new and renewal accounts for our Public, Private, and Not-For-Profit Management Liability Practice. Underwriters exercise independent judgment in processing accounts and managing underwriting activities. Underwrites typical support of $5 Million in GWP. Candidate Profile We seek a Sr. Underwriter Commercial Management Liability with expertise in Public, Private, and Not-For-profit Management Liability (including D&O, EPLI, FLI, and Crime) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of success in a top-tier Commercial Insurance carrier and will focus on developing a book of business targeting middle-market clients in the eastern part of the United States. Qualified candidates should have strong connections within management liability wholesale broker channels. They should be experienced in portfolio management, including soliciting submissions, underwriting analysis, preparing and issuing indications/quotations/binders, and marketing. In addition to technical expertise, we are looking for a candidate with an executive presence skilled in communication, influencing, and building solid relationships that add value to our business and contribute to longer-term strategic initiatives. Work Profile The work profile for this exciting position entails a unique hybrid work environment that offers the flexibility of working from home two days a week and being present in one of our bustling New York or New Jersey or Alpharetta metropolitan offices for the remaining three days. In addition to the hybrid work environment, this position requires regular travel to meet with brokers and clients face-to-face. This aspect of the job provides an excellent opportunity to build strong relationships with clients and gain insights into the industry. Travel also allows for personal and professional growth, as you can explore new places and meet new people. As part of this role, you will also attend industry and company events. These events are an excellent opportunity to network with industry leaders, learn about the latest industry trends and innovations, and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in your field. Key Duties and Responsibilities Retain existing business while strategically prospecting new opportunities targeting middle-market Public, Private, and not-for-profit management Liability clients. Manage a book of business concerning new lines, renewals, and cross-marketing of product lines within AXIS. Meet established divisional servicing objectives related to quote turnaround, policy issuance, phone management, renewal management, file maintenance, and documentation. Analyze and underwrite individual risks. Develop appropriate limit structure, retention, pricing, and endorsements within underwriting guidelines. Continue to develop and update product and underwriting knowledge. Participate in prospecting by identifying new business targets and opportunities and working closely with wholesale brokers to ensure the department receives the opportunity to offer proposals. Make strategy recommendations to the supervisor. Review and evaluate primarily new business based on company underwriting guidelines, competition, and geographic focus. Develop strategy and make recommendations. Cross-sell with Financial Institutions, Management Liability Practices, and other business units. Perform the required number of broker marketing calls, including out-of-state travel. Solicit new accounts, gather market intelligence, and deliver up-to-date department information on products and services. Manage select agency relationships to ensure objectives are achieved. Maintain up-to-date familiarity with economic and legal factors impacting the department's business lines and the insurance industry. Participate in special projects department initiatives. Coordinate with branch marketing representatives and profit center representatives to allow for cross-marketing. Required Education/Training & Experience: Bachelor's degree A minimum of 3+ years' experience in underwriting in Public, Private, and Not For-profit Sector Management Liability (D&O, EPLI, FLI, and Crime) Direct background targeting insureds with revenues under $1.5 Billion Strong presentation and interpersonal skills Ability to establish broker relationships within the region We expect to offer a base salary - $165,000 for New York and $140,000 for Atlanta. The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of various factors, including the successful candidate's experience and work location.
