Position Description This job description covers the principal duties and responsibilities of the job. Safety of employees should be considered your number one priority every day Position reports to Project Foreman Project Foreman sets the working hours This position is classified as hourly CPR, First Aid, OSHA 30-Hour Safety, LSC Basic Orientation Plus (BOP) and Site Specific training (as applicable), Flagger and Confined Space Entry Training may be requested Successful pre-employment background check for LMC and all military bases is required Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required 3-Year DMV Report may be required for driving company vehicles (as applicable) as per LMC and insurance guidelines TWIC card for special projects may be requested Ability to pass test for heavy equipment operation of one or more of the following: skid-steer, mini-excavator, front-end loader, backhoe, roller, off-road truck, water truck, dozer, excavator, motor grader, rover, GPS, and other pieces of equipment PM22 Position Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Safety o Support and comply with company Health, Safety & Environmental Program, Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace, and Harassment Free Work Environment Program o Set yourself as an example and practice workplace safety; use all personal protective equipment required for the job o Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life o Inspect the worksite daily to insure a safe work environment o Identify possible hazards with work tasks, tools, and work area - both above and below ground o Confirm that all underground utilities have been located each day o Report all accidents and incidents to project foreman and superintendent (regardless of how minor) as soon as possible o Responsible for accessible, clean & organized work site • Equipment Operation o Ability to operate excavator well o Ability to operate bulldozer well o Ability to operate motor grader well (NA for pipe crew operators) o Ability to operate support equipment well (including front end loader, rubber tire backhoe, mini-excavator, skid steer, off road truck, roller, etc.) o Knowledge of GPS equipment including machine control & GPS rover o Operates equipment efficiently - meets or exceeds bid production • Equipment Management o Perform preventive equipment maintenance (including greasing, checking & maintaining oilfluid levels, filters, etc.) o Responsible for equipment cleanliness (tracks, cabs, windows, etc.) o Perform daily equipment inspections thoroughly and accurately and document with daily equipment inspection forms o Properly secure equipment each day (windows & doors closed and locked, equipment parked in safe and secure location, etc.) o Maximize equipment utilization o Promptly report equipment problems to project foreman or superintendent • Budget Management o Thorough knowledge of projects plans and specifications o Thorough knowledge of scope of work, set up, quantities, and bid production o Closely monitors daily quantities of completed work Recognize scope changes and notifies project foremansuperintendent • Project Planning and Coordination o Work with engineers, owners, or sub-contractors to accomplish tasks o Plan project work with project foreman, superintendent, andor utility superintendent o Schedule project work with project foreman, superintendent, andor utility superintendent o Perform quality work on projects o Notify project foreman of project field problems o Order and track material deliveries and coordinate subcontractors o Request inspections o Receive materials, inventories, store safely.
