Looking for a lifetime career Apply today! Job Description Bettis Laboratory Site (BLS) Facilities Maintenance (FM) is seeking a highly motivated Unit Manager to lead the Electrical and HVAC Unit. The FM Subdivision at the Bettis Site is a first-class organization consisting of Unit Mangers, Supervisors, and Union Craft personnel dedicated to overall operations and maintenance of the entire West Mifflin Laboratory site. Examples of systems this Unit Manager owns are the two main transformers that step down the Duquesne Light incoming power from 138KV high voltage to 13.2KV for site distribution along with approximately 40 480 V substations, numerous rooftop style HVAC units, smaller HVAC split systems, and building control systems. The candidate's expected duties will be to lead three craft groups and supervisors to accomplish the duties it takes to learn, operate, and perform corrective and preventative maintenance on the systems these groups own. The candidate will also lead his supervisors to maintain a work schedule that consists of day-to-day operations, priority work items, and other scheduled items such as training. The selected candidate will be expected to foster an environment of teaming across multiple organizations, learning, and teaching to ensure continued organizational growth and successful execution of all site support. Other duties of a Unit Manager are to manage individual contributors, including experienced employees who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments. Exercise leadership qualities to influence and enlist the support of direct reports in the accomplishment of the unit's tasks and the Laboratory's goals. Administer and interpret policies, processes, and procedures that affect the work unit, with guidance from senior management. Ensure the correct and timely execution of technical work, which may include operations; maintain the technical excellence of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. Equivalent combination of relevant experience, education or training equaling four years may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
