I. Purpose Responsible for providing business systems application support and general PC support with a primary focus on an assigned plant location. Due the nature of the role, there will be a general expectation that this person will be the main IT resource at the location but will have access and be part of the larger corporate IT department. II. Duties 1. Works closely with Planning and Operations to define business application requirements and system integration specifications. 2. Responsible for the activities related to the design, development and implementation of new software systems as required. This will include quality assurance, user support, user documentation, and compliance to the Information Technology standard operating procedures. 3. Responsible for ensuring that all new systems and/or major changes are reviewed and approved by management before resources and schedules are committed. This includes scheduling reviews with management and appropriate personnel to review and analyze impact and effects on the business process and technical environment. 4. Assists with and/or directs the training of personnel as it relates to use of the business applications features and functions including but not limited to user procedures manuals, training curriculum and associated training materials. 5. Works closely with the business unit to assist and provide general application technical support and guidance. 6. Responsible for answering/logging Help Desk calls and providing support to the users of all personal computers, servers and related hardware/software and business applications. 7. Establishing the priority of problems that are logged with the Help Desk and escalating the problems to the appropriate personnel if the problem cannot be resolved. 8. Provide first point of support for the PC environment; this includes both hardware and software support. 9. Perform basic PC setup/configuration for new and existing users based on IT Services Requests. 10. Assist with the testing of new systems/applications as required. III. Knowledge 1. Requirements Experience working in a distributed client/server computing environment utilizing Local and Wide Area networks. Knowledge of client/server application development languages and tools, with an emphasis in Microsoft application development products and operating systems. Experience with relational data base technologies and platforms within a distributed client/server application environment. Strong experience with project management and process/functional definition of business applications within a manufacturing business environment. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written to successfully interact with project teams from various departments and business units. Strong research and analytical skills and the ability to self direct training to stay current with advancing technologies. Must be willing to travel to remote Mactac locations as required. 2. Sources A Bachelor Degree with an emphasis in Information Technology, MIS, and/or Business Management preferred but not required. Associates Degree in Information Technology, Computer Programming, and/or Business Management in addition to 2-5 years of experience in a comparable Information Technology Business Systems environment. IV. Contacts 1. Internal Has frequent contact with personnel from all functional areas and business units of the company to support their use of Business Application and Information Technologies. Develop working relationships with a diverse group of business people and gain an understanding of the complex nature of the company's business. Maintain familiarity with the business plans of the company and departments serviced. 2. External None V. Responsibility This position has a shared responsibility for all assets relating to the Mactac Information Processing systems including application functionality, testing, implementation, support and integration of business applications and information systems within the organization. A considerable impact can be made on employee productivity through the management and monitoring of these systems to ensure that the systems are enabling business process efficiencies and providing business value managing data integrity and accuracy. Additionally, they will be required to develop and maintain thorough understanding of the company business processes within assigned areas of responsibility, and the information and data they require and generate. VI. Essential Physical Requirements An employee in this position is required to spend a high percentage of their time utilizing a personal computer along with working on equipment in other locations. Additional requirements include: The ability to absorb and embrace changes in hardware and software technology along with the ability to work in a team environment and share job duties. Traveling and working at different Mactac locations which may include 2 - 3-day engagements at other locations. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
