The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and developing the food safety and quality systems of the Pepper Palace manufacturing plant. RESPONSIBILITIES § Ensure that the facilities including warehouses are in compliance with state and federal regulations. § Prepare reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities to production. § Recommends and/or develops orientation and training programs for food safety and quality, including but not limited to GMP's, HACCP and SSOP's throughout the plant, kitchen, warehouse and sanitation operations. § Act as the foremost authority and advise the plant on food safety and quality implications of any changes in product formulation, processing and equipment. § Have direct involvement in the manufacturing operations to ensure consistent production of high-quality products that conform to FDA filed processes. § Maintain the Supplier Approval Program and assist Purchasing in obtaining required documentation including 3rd party audit certification. § Lead staff members and provide direction in all aspects of food safety and quality. § Assist with product development initiatives and formulation maintenance. § Attend meetings, review daily documentations and submit monthly reports. § Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS § Bachelors in Food Science Biology, Chemistry or other related field of study with at least 3 years' experience and at least 1 with Supervisory experience. § Hands on knowledge, training and/or experience with HACCP, sanitation and regulatory. § Better Process School, PCQI/FSMA and SQF experience is preferred. § Ability to effectively present information in group situations and to other employees. § Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills. § Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel § Excellent communication, written and listening skills. § Strong observational, analytical, problem-solving and corrective action skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time; reach each overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping; move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance; must be able to climb or descend one or more set of steep stairs or vertical ladders inside and outside, and in all weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception. The employee is required to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.
