Overview TRC Advanced Energy (TRC) is a nationally known energy efficiency consultancy. TRC collaborates with clients to develop and implement market transforming programs and initiatives that promote energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green building in multiple market sectors across the US. TRC Advanced Energy created a Workforce Development program to strengthen our connection to the local community and create enhanced employment opportunities for individuals desiring to enter the clean energy workforce. TRC is seeking an energetic Field Inspection Apprentice for a 14-week, paid Workforce Development program. The Field Inspection Apprentice will be a member of TRC's inspector team to provide pre-and post-installation inspection services for commercial and residential projects to ensure that energy efficiency measures are installed and operational. In the pre-inspection phase, you may confirm existing equipment is operational and reflects inputs on customer/contractor project submittals. During the post-installation inspection, your understanding of applicable codes, rules, regulations, and project requirements, allows you to validate that all installations are in accordance with the customer application, in compliance with the PSEG Long Island Demand Management Program (PSEG Long Island DMP) contract, and follow the TRC/PSEG Long Island DMP rules and guidelines. You are key to enhancing the customer experience by completing accurate and timely inspections. Must be located near Nassau and Suffolk Counties, Long Island NY Responsibilities On-the-Job Training includes but is not limited to Conducting detailed pre- and post-inspections of energy efficiency projects to meet program requirements both on-site and through virtual inspections. Understanding the electric energy efficiency industry and energy saving measures. Identifying opportunities for additional energy savings measures while conducting inspections. Following program rules/guidelines and industry best practices for energy efficient measure installation. Delivering promotional material/program information to customers and industry partners. Collecting required documents/information for the demand management program. Developing an understanding of important safety instructions and inspection material equipment, such as computers, ladders, etc. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Residency in or near Nassau and Suffolk Counties Long Island NY is required. Valid US Driver's License with no restrictions Reliable personal transportation with ability to travel up to 50%. Ability to understand complex written and verbal technical instructions, concepts, schematics, etc. Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing and walking for extended periods of time. Desire to learn energy efficiency concepts. Basic computer skills: experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams). Excellent verbal and written communication skills Desire to learn energy efficiency concepts and to work in energy efficiency and sustainability. Verifiable work history Reliable home internet service Ability to set up home office using company-provided equipment. Technical background is a plus.
