Your role Reports directly to the Vice President, Operations Scent & Care, NA. Works closely with Production Planning, in executing the Master Production Schedule, to meet customers' requirements. Interfaces with warehouse personnel in the movement of approved raw materials in and out of the production floor. Deals regularly with QC, Customer Service, Perfumers, Maintenance, and EHS, to ensure quality of and safety in the manufacturing of products. Responsible for developing, maintaining and managing training and continuous improvement programs. Manages all production operations, following established procedures, in accordance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Assign tasks, shift assignments and overtime hours, in a fair and equitable manner, thus ensuring production objectives are achieved. Responsible for cost center management, as defined by the VP, Operations S&C N.A. Research and resolve production variances and quality defects, by utilizing continuous improvement philosophies. Responsible to train, direct, discipline, and evaluate subordinates. Conducts performance reviews and contributes input toward compensation. Ensures that all safety procedures and practices are followed and that required safety equipment is utilized. Interface with commercial personnel, as required. Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and packing materials to sustain production needs within the guidelines of the production cost center budget. Provide presentations and plant tours to customers, auditors and internal staff. Responsible for maintaining all areas and equipment in a clean, neat, orderly manner, in accordance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Ensure the Master Sanitation Schedule is adhered to, as described in the SOP. Participate in all plant-wide audits (internal/external). Maintains operating equipment, issues work orders, schedules, and monitors maintenance work progress and completion. Responsible for the documentation, accuracy, and security of production documents. Responsible for compliance with Symrise SOPs and ISO procedures. About you Four year technical degree is preferred in engineering/sciences or its equivalent, with a minimum of seven years supervisory experience in fragrance, pharmaceutical or flavor manufacturing. Past experience may include responsibilities in planning, scheduling, process quality and operations. Ability to understand and motivate people is imperative. Effective cost center and resource management techniques are also essential. Strong production and computer aptitude required, along with thorough understanding of MRP, ERP, MPS, Shop Floor Control and cost controls. Incumbent must be creative, analytical and utilize specialized knowledge in solving the daily problems associated with a manufacturing operation (capacity, mechanical, staffing & utility). These typically include: manpower, effective equipment usage, scheduling, new processes and specific customer requirements. Manager must be resourceful and able to act independently, when obtaining the information needed to solve problems. Extensive experience in Continuous Improvement, Root Cause Analysis, Teambuilding and staff development precepts is desired.
