The Director of Operations will be responsible for all the production facilities' manufacturing, processing, maintenance, and warehouse functions. The NJ location has about 200 employees in a union setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving both short-term and long-term production objectives while establishing strategic manufacturing plans to achieve corporate goals. They will assist in creating and adhering to operational and plant budgets. Key Performance Indicators (KPI) include Fill rate, plant cost reduction, yield, and direct labor. Additionally, the Director of Operations will develop and execute comprehensive manufacturing plans and programs to support employee engagement, quality, safety, volume, and cost/objectives. They must thrive as hands-on, detail-oriented leaders who actively hold themselves and others accountable while regularly implementing continuous improvement efforts to ensure value. Essential Job Functions: Overseeing all operations and budgets of the entire facility Achieve Financial goals (labor, yield, & plant expense) while maintaining a safe & hygienic working environment Achieve 99.75% case fill rate on time by achieving daily/weekly Production attainment goals. Ensures established production schedules are achieved which most effectively utilize our people/process and equipment while maintaining service Ensure product is produced at the highest quality standards to provide superior customer satisfaction. Lead in the readiness of all Quality Audits and Customer visits Communicate and coordinate production requirements and performance with contracted maintenance and sanitation departments to maximize line efficiency and minimize downtime. Implement Continuous Improvement manufacturing tactics and actions to accomplish plant production and warehousing goals. Institute workaround/contingency plans for running production if mechanical downtime occurs. Maintain good working relationships with internal customers (Sales, Finance, Executives, etc.) Responsible for training, selecting, and motivating Plant Supervision and hourly workforce. Makes sure new policies and programs are being followed. Ensures proper documentation and records are maintained in accordance with established regulatory, company, or plant requirements, including downtime collection, batching data, & training documentation Lead Daily and Weekly meetings with the team to review metrics and set actions accordingly. 3-5 Direct Reports Be a champion for coaching, development, and accountability of all team members in the Plant. Other tasks and projects may be assigned. Strong Data Analysis skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Can Lead through Visual Management Tools Ability to navigate through Microsoft Software (Teams, Excel, Power BI, etc.) Experience in a "Lean Manufacturing" / "Continuous Improvement" environment Understanding of Plant P&L, such as the drivers of labor and material cost/lb. EXPERIENCE: 10+ years of food/beverage manufacturing experience required, with 3+ years in fresh, short shelf-life manufacturing/warehousing leadership experience preferred. 3 years of ground beef experience 5 years of protein experience Familiarity with applicable government regulations, including but not limited to GMPs, HACCP, and USDA regulations.
