Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians is seeking a Respiratory Therapist- COPD/Asthma Educator for our Respiratory Services Team in Columbus, OH. The Respiratory Services Asthma specialist responsibilities will include assessing, managing, educating, and advocating therapy for patients. Responsibilities include working with patient families on treatment plans and testing as needed. This position works closely with care team to execute appropriate treatment plan and follow up items to ensure high quality of patient care. Travel to our offices in Columbus area will be required. This is a full-time position working 8a-5p Monday-Friday.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for the assessment, management/education, facilitation and advocacy for options and services for COPD and asthma patients. Address appropriate therapeutic methods for various lung diseases following established guidelines.Evaluate patient and determine appropriate treatment plan.Provide verbal and written asthma education to patient and family members.Perform Pulmonary Functions Testing. Discuss/review the results with the physician, and together establish a medication treatment struct patient/family on proper use and care of medical devise deemed appropriate for the and instruct use/documentation of asthma/COPD action plan and diary/journal.Perform timely and accurate continuous quality improvement.Teach and counsel patients/families.Set and discuss management goals with the patient/family.QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education, Licensures & CertificationsRequired: Licensed in the state of Ohio and hold RRT credentialRequired: Associate degree in Respiratory TherapyPreferred:Bachelor's degree in Respiratory TherapyRequired: 2+ years of experience working with all types of chronic lung diseasePreferred: Previous experience with COPD and asthma patients, adult and/or pediatricKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong organizational skills to allow for direct patient careStrong knowledge of chronic lung disease and treatment plansKnowledge of electronic health recordsAbility to work independentlyExcellent communication and critical thinking skills
