Key Responsibilities As the Head of Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Financing for Standard Chartered Bank US, you will lead the growth and competitive positioning of the business within Global Banking. As a key strategic advisor and trusted partner to our clients, you will drive revenue growth and enhance profitability while managing risk. You will take ownership of client group revenues and risk management, building a comprehensive understanding of client structures and needs. Strategy Formulate business strategy in the context of the overall Global Banking / CIB product, client, market and country strategy. Lead origination and execution of CRE financing transactions, working with Client Coverage and product groups to identify and target cross-sell opportunities. Build trusted relationships with Promoters, C-Suite, and Sponsors for Global Banking / CIB targeted client groups and drive advisory and high value banking opportunities Drive client penetration and profitability aligned to CIB / Global Banking Strategy. Business Ensure transaction structures align with client requirements, market standards and the Bank's internal parameters. Oversee robust deal selection, conflict resolution and risk management so business is consistent with the strategy and risk appetite of the Bank. Produce and maintain accurate forecasting and financial oversight of the business. Processes Manage business and risk management process issues by interacting (where required) with representatives on various risk, governance, and control committees, i.e., 2LoD, 3LoD. Responsibility for the first line of defense in a supervisory role. i.e., 1LoD. Ensure deals are screened and selected in line with the Bank's strategy and risk appetite. Provide oversight of portfolio risks through the portfolio reviews and escalate to senior management and risk forums where required. People & Talent Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Provide ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks. Employ, engage, and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles. Risk Management Enforce a culture of risk management, control, and governance, and ensure teams comply with the risk management processes in place. This includes (but not limited to) compliance with country-level Portfolio Standards, Underwriting Standards, Credit Underwriting Principles ('CUP'), PPGs. Through assignment to direct reports, for regions and businesses under area of responsibility, ensure that adequate and appropriate systems, control, and procedures are in place to comply with Group and Business policies, procedures, standards, and codes, including those governing all Risk types, compliance, Technology and Operations, Finance and Reputation. Proactively advise on and monitor all major risk issues and portfolio concentrations with Portfolio Analytics & Monitoring ('PAM'). Where appropriate, direct remedial action and/ or ensure adequate escalation and reporting to the Board and its Risk Committees Governance Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role. Responsible for delivering 'effective governance'; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner. Accountable for escalation from within CRE team and/or other Group governance committees or stakeholders in senior management, risk, or control functions. Lead the CIB Global Banking, Commercial Real Estate ('CRE') team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment. Key Front Office Supervisor Responsibilities This role has been identified as a 'Front Office Supervisor' and as such has associated with it a series of specific supervisory responsibilities in addition to any current employee/ management responsibilities within the Bank. Periodically the holder of this role will be required to attest that they understand their specific supervisor responsibilities and that they will execute these diligently. For the avoidance of doubt these Front Office Supervisory Responsibilities supplement and do not replace those outlined in this Job Description as well as any other applicable core employee/management responsibilities associated to employment with the Bank. Qualifications EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Extensive experience in the banking industry and recent relevant experience in a similar role focused on CRE Debt Origination and Execution In-depth technical skills in investment banking coverage and corporate finance Prior experience in a recognised institution with a track record in various product; structured debt, project finance, M&A, capital markets, financial markets and structured trade transactions. Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Commercial Real Estate sector Effective communication skills both written and oral with internal and external clients. Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance obligations. Strong work ethic, detail orientated and a passion for excellence. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location.
