THE FIRST REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS WILL BE OCTOBER 17TH. Under general supervision of the Operations Administrator, the Maintenance Supervisor assigns, supervises, coordinates, and evaluates work and projects completed by Maintenance Technicians and Seasonal Workers. Assigns equipment and material resources, maintains records, and monitors work. Leads city crews to ensure safety and productivity. Trains employees and provides continuous performance feedback. Work performed by city crews includes street and utility operations, right-of-way beautification, mowing and landscaping, park maintenance, public facility maintenance, infrastructure maintenance, and other repairs. Must be adaptable to a flexible work schedule. Essential Functions of Work Leads the work activities and jobs tasks of one or multiple city crews in the areas of public roadway, underground utility, facility, public land, parks, electrical, and traffic which includes construction, repair, and rehabilitation, replacement, and maintenance functions. Assists Maintenance Technicians and Seasonal Workers with a variety of technical repair and manual labor maintenance tasks as required due to scheduling, workload demand, traffic, or weather, etc. Operates a variety of motorized vehicles and specialized mechanical and/or electronic equipment (i.e., dump truck with snowplow and salt spreading attachments, backhoe, front end loader, chain saw, chipper/leaf machine, jack hammer, sewer video camera, vac truck, post driver, mowers, skid steer loader or other equivalent types of equipment) based on the functions necessary to perform specific job duties. Utilizes various hand tools (i.e., shovel, pick, axe, sledgehammer, handsaw, air wrench, welder, or other equivalent types of hand tools) based on the functions necessary to perform specific job duties. Utilizes field mobile devices to complete work orders, maintain routine records, and communicate. Oversees and monitors of all City safety work rules and standard operating procedures. Reviews blueprints, design drawings, maps, manuals, and other technical materials required to oversee projects and perform work assignments. Reviews and inspects work in progress or at completion to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, County, City, and other appropriate agencies laws and regulations, work methods and procedures, safety practices, quality, quantity, and timeliness standards. Investigates complaints and answers public inquiries regarding maintenance programs and services. Supervision and oversight of city crews performing emergency public roadway, facility, and public lands maintenance activities for weather related events adversely affecting city lands, recreation and parks facilities, and public roadway systems. Prepares, assigns, and/or completes issues work orders relating to the maintenance and repair of City-owned facilities located within the public rights-of-way and/or on public lands. Performs periodic reviews and inspections of facilities within the public rights-of-way and/or on public lands for safety, repairs, maintenance, functionality, beautification, and cleanliness. Assist with annual employee performance appraisals and development plans for subordinates. Prepares correspondence and maintains files and records for related to public maintenance operations Responsible for the inventory and maintenance of all city equipment, tools, and service buildings. Oversees and supervises on-call repairs, when necessary, 24 hours a day for emergencies. Sets up proper work zones and maintains job sites. Operates CDL and non-CDL equipment. Performs all other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Operational knowledge and experience of motorized, mechanical, and electronic equipment (i.e., dump truck with snowplow and salt spreading attachments, tractor mower, backhoe, front-end loader, chain saw, leaf machine, sewer vacuum, street sweeper, chipper, landscape equipment, or other equivalent types of equipment. Equivalent combination of training and experience that provides knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in construction and maintenance work. Must continuously and consistently demonstrate the initiative and responsibility to work in an efficient and productive manner with or without direct supervision. Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in construction and maintenance work. Knowledge of the safe and correct use of hand and power tools. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work you and crew are assigned. Ability to understand, give and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with supervisors and subordinates, and to be courteous to the public. Must be proficient using MOBILE 311 service request system within ninety (90) days of appointment. Typical Qualifications Possession of a high school diploma, GED, Vocational School certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three to five years of experience in construction and maintenance related work preferred. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience preferred. Possession of a valid State of Ohio operator's license and a valid State of Ohio Class A Commercial Driver's license (CDL) with "Tanker" and "Air Brake" endorsements; said CDL must be obtained within six (6) months of appointment. Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule. Full-Time Employees (Non-Union) HEALTH BENEFITS Employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance, vision, and dental benefits. Benefits start the 1st day of the month following the employee's start date. LIFE INSURANCE The City pays 100% of the premium on a $100,000 life insurance policy for employees. RETIREMENT PENSION The City contributes 14% monthly toward retirement benefits offered through the Ohio Retirement System (OPERS) and the employee contributes 10%. VACATION Employees accrue two weeks of vacation in their first year of employment. The City recognizes prior Ohio public service to establish vacation accruals. Vacation Accrual Rates 1 Year - 3.1 hours per pay period (80 hours per year) 5 Years- 4.6 hours per pay period (120 hours per year) 10 Years- 6.2 hours per pay period (160 hours per year) 15 Years- 7.7 hours per pay period (200 hours per year) PERSONAL LEAVE Employees receive two personal days. These days are to be used within the calendar year. HOLIDAYS There are 12 holidays recognized by the City. SICK LEAVE Employees accrue 3.1 hours of sick leave per pay period for a total of 80 hours per year.
