Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, Florida, is looking for a Deputy Project Manager. SUMMARY Deputy Project Manager (DPM) is responsible for supporting the Project Manager in project execution throughout the project lifecycle from firm bid to contract close-out. The DPM supports the overall project while developing and applying critical project management skills associated with project planning, engineering, procurement, communication, scheduling management, budgeting/cost management, deliverable management, scope negotiation, progress reporting and successful team interactions required to meet project and business requirements. The DPM works under the direct supervision of the Director of Projects and Project Manager (PM) to ensure all project deliverables are completed on-time and within budget, with a specific focus on managing the interactions and fulfillment of the OEM scope, including but not limited to the Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Generator and Auxiliaries. Project scope ranges from equipment supply contracts limited to gas or steam turbine only to complete EPC contract with consortium agreements that include the supply of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs). ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Assist the Project Manager(s) in safely, efficiently, and successfully executing the project(s). Support the development and implementation of the Project Communication Plan. Actively prepare/participate before and during key PM project milestones- e.g. turnover from Sales, Project Kick-off, Key Vendor Kick-offs, Scope Baselining, Schedule Baselining, Cost Baselining, Resource Baselining, etc. Support the PM's in tracking and managing financial performance and deliverable performance against a project baseline. Monitor and report on project metrics and create and present internal project update presentations and customer project reports. Manage and track all OEM scope items, including progress reporting, issue resolution, official communications, change orders, and factory back charges. Work closely with Global Supply Chain to manage and control OEM purchase orders, invoice approval and back charge/claim reimbursement process and closeout. Integrate with OEM factory fulfillment teams to manage shipping plans and critical documentation. Participate in project risk management activities, including the development and update of the Project Risk Register, assessing project risks, planning, and implementing risk mitigation strategies and risk controls. Support the development, distribution and retention of project records and reports. Actively develop process improvements, keep collection of lessons learned and contribute to the PM organization operational excellence and growth culture. Actively maintain critical project organization tools while working to ensure team members understand roles and responsibilities across the project team. Actively participate in the development and update of an integrated master schedule for the project and work to identify approaching risks and opportunities associated with critical path method analysis. Support the PM in project financial improvements through change management, including the necessary reviews and approvals needed to develop and manage change requests and modification to the scope of work, and/or scope of supply. Foster cohesive team building and team interaction across both Internal and External organizations and stakeholders. Assess progress to plan, including earned value management evaluation of project performance to share insights and recommendations with the PM, Project Engineer and Team Leads. Engage in professional development activities in the areas of project management, leadership, finance, accounting, and business administration. Chair the weekly MPW-A team meeting and release notes with actions, assignments, and due dates. Actively participate in Weekly external Customer or External Partner Team calls and coordinate release of MPW-A notes with actions, assignments, and due dates. Actively participate in Weekly key internal stakeholder meetings (e.g. TGO, HTC, HRSG) and coordinate release of MPW-A notes with actions, assignments, and due dates. Draft RASs and manage to closure. Draft and administer the MPW-A AWCL feedback and draft the related Change Orders and Invoicing Reconciliations quarterly. Prepare and support "recovery" meetings with Supply Chain to deal with problem vendors, following the MDRs provided and contractual obligations. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Comply with all EHS policies and procedures, including reporting or unsafe activities to EHS & HR. Communicate effectively with staff and management at all levels. Always maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Protect confidential information by not communicating, disclosing to, or using it for benefit of 3rd parties. Work in the global environment to maintain standards and latest practices. Maintain a valid passport and driver's license. Expect to work while travelling approximately 20-25% domestically and internationally. Work with the Project Engineer to ensure complete and timely capture, review, approval, and distribution of meeting minutes to include attendees, action items and action item close-outs. Support review and approval of Supplier Invoices and payments. Support review and approval of Customer Invoices for payment requests and receipt of payments. Perform other such duties as may be required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering or related field from four-year college or university; and four (4) plus years related experience. Prefer related experience with combined cycle powerplants and current project engineers, lead engineers and field engineers would be desirable. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office; familiar with SAP, project scheduling Knowledge of computer-aided design, database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
