Based in Phoenix, Arizona, the F&B Mfg LLC has been in the business of making parts and complex sheet metal assemblies for the aerospace, military, automotive, semi-conductor and commercial industries since 1923. Summary: Inspects components and finish assemblies during various stages of production for conformance to specifications by performing the following duties. This is a second shift position Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following; other duties may be assigned. • Perform daily, weekly and monthly system checks as required by internal & external policies and procedures. • Maintain inspection and test logs. • Have proven knowledge to set up and calibrate equipment, conduct tests, and to interpret, evaluate and document results in accordance with the Quality department procedures. • Operate and maintain FPI testing equipment. • Examines and tests material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds. • Compares product with parts list, drawings, blueprints, customer specifications and/or sample model to ensure completion of assembly. • Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, and IDR. • Perform daily, weekly and monthly system checks as required by internal & external policies and procedures in order to ensure that the facility is properly performing the FPI process. • Prepare written instructions for methods and techniques and writes customer reports as needed. • Designate methods and techniques to be used, including appropriate sequence of operations in process for applicable part. • Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, and IDR. • Assures that records, as required for system controls are maintained, including inspection and test logs. • Determines the extent of refresher training. • Prepares for and participates in customer audits, work reviews and/or spot checks. • Maintains customer contact with FPI/NDT authorizing agent at customer. • Must be able to work overtime as needed. • Respond to audit findings in timely manner. • Examines and tests material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds. • Compares product with parts list, drawings, blueprints, customer specifications and/or sample model to ensure completion of assembly. • Stamps mark of approval or rejection on product and writes report of examinations. • Keep work area clean at all times (5 S's). Education and Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • A technical associates' or Bachelor's degree is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2-5 years of demonstrated experience for Level 2 FPI Inspector. • Organizing and documenting NDT results. Familiar with codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method being used by the employer. • Must have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contract documents that control the methods as utilized by the employer; be able to select the method and techniques for a specific inspection; and prepare and verify the adequacy of procedures. • Vision Acuity, Appropriate certification as required by customers. Minimum five years' experience of dimensional tolerance inspection (Y14.5) of aerospace products. Level 2 FPI Inspector: Demonstrates 2-5 years of experience in position or specialization Expected Specialized Training • Skills and knowledge to set up and calibrate equipment, conduct tests, and to interpret, evaluate, and document results in accordance with procedures. • The individual shall be familiar with codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the method being used by the employer. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Has developed knowledge and skills through training or considerable work experience • Works within established procedures with a moderate degree of supervision • Identifies the problem and all relevant issues in straightforward situations, assesses each using standard procedures, and makes sound decisions. • Must be capable of running the majority of jobs in the department. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee successfully perform essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finer, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic, or caustic chemicals. • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. • Manual dexterity to handle small delicate parts and hand held standard measuring equipment at the same time. • Ability to drive and operate a Forklift.
