About Sandy Hook Promise Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) is a national nonprofit organization with a mission to end school shootings, and create a culture change that prevents violence and other harmful acts that hurt children. Through its life-saving evidence-informed Know the Signs prevention programs, SHP educates and empowers youth and adults to recognize, intervene, and get help for individuals who may be socially isolated and/or at risk of hurting themselves or others. SHP is a moderate, bipartisan organization that supports sensible policy solutions that address the human side of gun violence and make schools safer. SHP is led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012. Location We are a U.S. based organization and most of our staff work remotely. This role will require 25-50% travel on an as-needed basis. Please see below for more information. About the Role Under the supervision of Beyond Differences' Director of National Programs and Associate Vice President of Business Development, the Director Business Development will be responsible for proactively recruiting new districts and new schools to sign-up for our largest flagship No One Eats Alone Day (NOEA) happening at the start of 2025. NOEA is a no-cost positive prevention program sponsored by the Centene Foundation. Eventually, this role will evolve to bring all SHP school-based programs to new districts and schools. *Applications will close on November 27, 2024* Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to) Recruitment & Communications: Build, maintain and develop knowledge to become an expert on SHP's comprehensive suite of program offerings as well as the competitive landscape for upstream violence prevention. Build and maintain existing relationships with schools and districts that are currently using our programs through effective communication strategies. Engage with district and school stakeholders to deliver informational presentations on our National Programs, both virtually and in person. Identify potential leads for new schools and districts to implement Beyond Differences (BD) programs, with the goal of getting over 2,500 schools registered for NOEA. Serve as a liaison by regularly communicating with Centene employees (NOEA's corporate sponsor) to support their local recruitment and implementation efforts for NOEA in their regions. Identify, guide, and coordinate sales opportunities aligned with the ambitious strategic goals/plans set by the organization, focused on creating diverse pipelines in prioritized states and target market segments. Track all sales activity, including new business, organic growth opportunities, and correspondence with prospects, within the assigned territory according to plan. Provide monthly forecast and sales projections to Business Development Leadership Team. Conduct online presentations and represent Sandy Hook Promise at exhibits, conferences, and events within assigned territory. Collaborate across teams, including Program Development, the Say Something-Anonymous Reporting System staff, the Tech team, and the SAVE team, to achieve departmental goals. Travel regularly to other regions to host engagement events and promote NOEA (25-50%). Determine additional, creative strategies to recruit educators to our programs. Perform additional duties as required based on organizational needs. Programmatic & Event Coordination: Promote and facilitate NOEA Day celebrations at key school locations around the country. Invite educators to participate in regular engagement opportunities, such as professional development sessions, in-person networking events, and more. Administer surveys to teachers regarding their engagement and compile the feedback for the Director, Executive Director, and Board of Directors. Desired Skills and Experience 5-7 years of proven success in education sales, with a strong track record of selling digital solutions to diverse school districts. Excellent relationship management and partnership-building skills, with a strong grasp of effective follow-up techniques and a sense of urgency and persistence in outreach efforts. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. High proficiency in Salesforce (and other CRMs), Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Zoom, and other relevant platforms. Knowledgeable and passionate about bringing our social-emotional programs to as many schools as possible! Willing and able to travel as needed (25-50%). Dedicated to SHP's vision and values. Benefits and Salary Range The salary range for this position is $93,000-$103,000. (SHP follows a strict internal rubric to help guide salary placement and ensure equitable pay amongst new hires and current staff. New hires should expect to be brought on at the start of the range, except in extenuating circumstances.)
