Senior Financial Analyst Our client, a specialty P&C reinsurer, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst with a blend of accounting and finance experience in the commercial insurance industry. In this role you will perform a variety of activities including budgeting, forecasting, SOX testing, audits, journal entries, financial modeling, and special projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, proficiency with GAAP, experience in financial reporting, and a focus on process improvement and automation. Responsibilities: - Compile and analyze monthly underwriting results by class of business, including detailed analysis of premiums, commissions, and ratios. - Reconcile the general ledger to subledger accounts, resolving any out-of-balance issues. - Analyze quarterly financial activity and compile reports for senior leadership. - Manage monthly Balance Sheet reviews, providing analysis of movements from the prior year. - Coordinate IBNR journal entries, expense accruals, treasury entries, and intercompany underwriting activity. - Assist in preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and projections for various business classes. - Support internal and external audits, managing data requests and PBC lists. - Oversee banking transactions, cash logs, and reconciliation of ledgers. - Perform quarterly SOX compliance testing of key controls. - Identify trends and opportunities through data analysis, presenting insights to support decision-making. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, translating business needs into financial reporting impacts. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (Master's preferred). - 3+ years of experience in accounting/finance, preferably with public accounting exposure. - Insurance and/or reinsurance industry experience. - CPA or CMA license (or progress toward certification). - Strong knowledge of US GAAP (STAT knowledge is a plus). - Proficiency with general ledger functions and accounting software (PeopleSoft, Essbase). - Experience with data analysis tools like Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. - Expertise in the month-end/year-end close process, with a focus on innovation and automation. - Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical/problem-solving abilities. - Understanding of SOX controls and best practices in processes and procedures.
