QuickBooks Instructor (Morning Shift) Job Description Organizational Summary Union Settlement is an East Harlem based nonprofit organization founded in 1895. To learn more about Union Settlement, visit Position: QuickBooks Instructor (Morning Shift) Department: Adult Education Reports to: Director of Adult Education Hours: Part-Time; Morning Shift (9am - 3pm); M/W, T/TH Salary: $45.00 per hour FLSA: Non-Exempt Location: On-site Positions Reporting to this Role: None Position Summary: Union settlement Adult Education is seeking an QuickBooks Instructor (Mornings) to provide in person support that reports to the Adult Education Director. The Education Specialist has the overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the academic curriculum, program compliance and quality assurance. The agency has embraced the concept of a fully integrated system of care for all consumers of service. This requires that all Agency staff assess the client's needs holistically and see it as their responsibility to connect the client with services need - internal or external to the agency, regardless of the door through which the consumer enters the system. The ideal candidate will be a hard-working professional able to undertake a variety of teaching approaches. This person will be comfortable working with a high degree of attention to detail and discretion as well as incorporating new and effective ways to achieve better results. Responsibilities : Develop and implement academic curriculum for students seeking to improve his/her academic/social performance. Assess the educational needs of the students. Research and develop new resources and materials to enhance the teaching curricula. Review the academic learning curriculum of the program with Program Director. Maintain class attendance records and student participation. Design and recommend individualized curriculum needs for students. Meet with students to review progress and need for additional help. Identify program needs to the Program Director. Review and coordinate Educational Lesson Plans. Provide monthly narrative progress reports for participants. Attend Staff development training, program meetings and related conferences. Assist with client follow up. Perform other duties as assigned. Must well organized. Develop and / or utilize lesson plans that reflect an understanding of how best to teach reading, writing, grammar, listening, speaking, and technology skills in thematically organized and developmentally / culturally appropriate ways. Develop and / or utilize lesson plans that reflect an understanding of how best to teach Fundamentals of Basic Accounting geared towards entry level employment position in the field. Develop and / or utilize lesson plans that reflect an understanding of how best to teach concepts geared towards QuickBooks Certification. Must be comfortable speaking in front of an audience. Must present material to students each day in an engaging and easy to understand manner. Ability to build an effective classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for adult learners Provide instruction in a systematic as well as creative and challenging way. Classes will be conducted for trainees in theory, concepts and applications of accounting and for QuickBooks certification. Consider student individual employability plans and contribute to monthly evaluations of progress in program. Make modifications for and implement changes in individual program. Contribute to curriculum development attuned to learning level objectives. Participate in the general center activities including personal development, program planning, and center related events. At all times exercise professionalism and confidentiality with staff and students. Must implement a variety of instructional delivery methods, including group or individualized instructions Ability to instruct in a manner that develops confidence and encourages creativity Ability to engage students who may have had no prior, or limited, access to technology and or language learning. Maintain and ensure HIPAA confidentiality of records (daily) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Education. Minimum of three years of experience teaching Basic Accounting/Bookkeeping & QuickBooks Preparation to Adult Learners/ immigrant community. Certified in Best Plus and Best Literacy, preferred. Must be QuickBooks Certified. Must be Bookkeeping Certified. Ability and interest in working with diverse populations. Knowledge of principles and practices related to adult literacy, preparing lesson plans, Microsoft Office, including Excel, and working knowledge of Microsoft Suite. Must be a self-starter, highly organized, patient and able to work well with others. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 30 pounds.
