Description Serve as an undergraduate research assistant on the project: Pace Zine Library Research Assistantship. The Pace University Zine Library is seeking to hire a Research Assistant to participate in cataloging, analyzing, and promoting the collection on social media and on campus. This is an opportunity for a student interested in library science, archives, and/or marketing to learn experientially about the day-to-day operations of running and studying a small academic library or special collection. They will help develop the collection, as well, and help market it at Pace and to the larger zine and academic communities, depending on available funding for the Zine Library to support such work. Responsibilities will include many applied research activities: • Must be Work Study eligible • Study the collection to glean meaning, identify patterns, and reveal strengths and weaknesses in regards to Pace curricula and student profile. • Catalog new additions to the collection, a task that includes researching other zine catalogs and zine projects. • Be present in Z.L. for weekly, scheduled hours (to be determined based on availability) to introduce visitors to the library's holdings. • Strengthen the Z.L. social media by creating research-based Instagram stories, reels, and posts; experiment with TikTok. Requirements * You must have Work Study funding added to your awards BEFORE applying for this position. You are potentially eligible for Work Study if you are a US Citizen or permanent resident, have filed a FAFSA, are enrolled in at least 6 credits, and are in good academic standing. Successful applicants will have these qualities and skills: • Enthusiasm and curiosity about the world of zines and other independent or self-publications. • Carefulness (handling materials), self-motivation, and excitement to work closely with faculty and library staff on this project. • Excellent email and verbal communication skills are essential. • Experience with social media storytelling, particularly on Instagram, is a plus. Instructions to find your Work Study eligibility status: • Log into your MyPacePortal and click on Student Home and then the "Financial Aid" box (middle of screen). • Once in Financial Aid, select the "Award Offer" tab and the correct Award Year. • Scroll down to "Options to Pay Net Cost" and take a screenshot of the funds that are allocated specifically to Work Study for the academic year. Make sure your name is captured in the screenshot, then upload the screenshot, and submit it along with your application. * If these details are not available in the "Award Offer" section of your profile, you are NOT currently eligible for Work Study funding. If you are a US citizen or permanent resident, and you have filed a FAFSA, you can open a Help Desk ticket with Financial Aid to determine your Work Study eligibility.
