Overview: A Mammographers responsibilities include explaining procedures to patients, positioning patients and equipment, performing examinations, and maintaining and operating specialized radiologic equipment. Conduct Mammography study by positioning breasts, adjusting compression mechanisms, instructing patient to hold breath, retreating to lead protected area, adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors, activating equipment to take image, releasing compression mechanisms, and preparing for next positioning and view. Minimize radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques. Prepare accurate records and enter required data into the information management system. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Qualifications: Qualifications High School Diploma or GED/TASC required AS/AAS degree required. BS degree preferred Successful completion of a Radiology Technology program NYS License and American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registration required Mammography registry/certification required 1 year work experience preferred BCLS/CPR required Bilingual is a strong plus Schedule All positions are in hospitals. These facilities are open 24 hours/7 days each week. General shift availability: Days (7a-3p or 8a-4p) Evenings (3p-11p or 4p-12a) Nights (11p-7a or 12a-8a) Every other weekend is usually required for all positions. COVID-19 vaccination is required.
