Job Description The NYC Department of Probation (DOP) is a world leader in working creatively and effectively engaging with people under court-mandated community supervision. Following the best current data on what works, staff at DOP engage in meaningful relationships with those on probation in an effort to enhance community safety and decrease recidivism. The Time and Leave Supervisor is responsible to manage the team and ensure the following: Timekeeping: Accurately record and monitor the schedules and timesheets of employees. Key responsibilities include: - Collecting and verifying timesheets: Ensuring all employee hours are accurately recorded. - Calculating pay: Including regular hours, overtime, bonuses, and deductions. - Administering Paid Time Off (PTO): Tracking and managing PTO accruals and usage. - Ensuring compliance: Making sure the company adheres to relevant labor laws and regulations. - Maintaining records: Keeping detailed records of employee hours, absences, and attrition rates Leave Analysis Processing & Reporting: - Manages and coordinates all leave of absence cases and workers compensation claims. Key responsibilities include: - Administering leave programs: Interpreting and applying federal and state leave laws (e.g., FMLA, PFL, PPL, CSL, DSL and other Leaves of Absence). - Case management: Coordinating all aspects of leave cases, including documentation and compliance and working with external partners for PFL. - Customer service: Providing assistance to employees, managers, and HR partners regarding leave policies and procedures. - Compliance: Ensuring all leave and workers compensation programs comply with applicable laws and regulations - Runs reports and prepares analysis to keep senior management informed regarding workforce planning. Qualifications 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or 2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or 3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above; 4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3 years.
