Network Engineer - WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) Job Title: Network Engineer Location: New York Employment Type: Full Time Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer with experience in managing wireless network infrastructure and optimizing ISP-grade networking solutions. This role requires deep familiarity with MikroTik equipment and a strong background in supporting wireless deployments. As a key member of our team, you'll design, implement, and maintain our wireless infrastructure across a large metropolitan area to ensure optimal service delivery and high customer satisfaction. Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and manage the ISP's network, focusing on high-performance wireless infrastructure in urban environments. Configure and maintain MikroTik routers, switches, and wireless equipment, ensuring seamless connectivity and network reliability. Optimize network performance with detailed monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementing targeted upgrades or improvements. Develop and enforce network security practices to protect customer data and network integrity. Collaborate closely with field technicians for equipment installations, upgrades, and site assessments. Monitor network performance, analyze data, and conduct audits to ensure coverage, speed, and reliability meet ISP standards. Support the provisioning and management of IP addresses, and set up routing and VLAN configurations. Document network topology, configurations, and maintenance schedules for efficient network management and scalability. Respond to network incidents and outages to maintain high service uptime and customer satisfaction. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of network engineering experience, ideally within an ISP or WISP environment. Hands-on experience with MikroTik RouterOS and products like CCR, CRS, and wireless equipment. Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), VLANs, and wireless technologies. Experience with network planning and site surveys, especially in dense urban areas. Knowledge of wireless RF fundamentals and experience working with point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless setups. Certifications such as MikroTik MTCNA, MTCRE, or CompTIA Network+ are strongly preferred. Skills: Proficiency in troubleshooting wireless networks, signal issues, and performance bottlenecks. Strong analytical skills to design and implement network solutions based on customer and area requirements. Excellent communication skills to coordinate with field teams and provide top-tier customer service.
