Great opportunity for an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join a leading law firm in their Midtown office on a direct hire basis. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Ability to perform legal research, draft correspondence, cite-check, bluebook, and analyze pleadings. Experience with litigation document review databases, case management databases, and e-discovery software. Understands Litigation practice area protocols, an ability to anticipate attorney needs, an ability to exercise independent judgment. Experience overseeing junior-level paralegals. Ability to coordinate and manage case documents, including organization, substantive review for relevance and responsiveness, and identification of privileged and confidential information, as well as preparation of documents for production. Experience with Trial preparation and logistics, including management of scheduling, coordination with court clerks, preparation of witness files, page/line deposition summaries, management of exhibits, and leading with setting up trial space. Prepare pleadings and discovery under lawyer supervision. File and e-file pleadings in federal, state courts and government agencies. Drafts, analyzes, and prepares legal documents for a supervising lawyer or supervising paralegal. Coordinates legal projects and communicates legal information for a supervising lawyer or supervising paralegal. Prepare draft communications for a supervising lawyer or supervising paralegal. Collects, evaluates, and summarizes relevant facts and legal concepts for a supervising lawyer or supervising paralegal. Attends client meetings, coordination meetings, and legal proceedings with a supervising lawyer or supervising paralegal. Provides legal project management for a legal matter for a supervising lawyer or supervising paralegal. Supervises Project Assistants, Paralegals and Senior Paralegals on assigned tasks. Maintains notary license in local jurisdiction. Follows all supervising lawyer or supervising paralegal instructions. Maintains accurate and appropriate time records regarding hours spent working for clients, working for the Firm, and working on administrative tasks. Meets all time entry and timesheet deadlines specified by the Firm, the Paralegal Department, and the Accounting Department. Bills a minimum of 1,536 creditable hours each performance evaluation year of which a minimum of 1,416 of those hours are client billable hours. Works a predictable schedule, and also provides flexibility in daily schedule to meet Firms needs during periods of heavy workload. Accepts accountability and responsibility for all work assignments. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree or Paralegal Certification from ABA approved program required. 13+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal experience at an AmLaw 100 law firm required. Trial experience is required. Must have strong cite checking and e-filing skills and experience. Strong knowledge of state and federal rules. Knowledge of legal principles, practices, laws, and regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of legal processes and practice-group specific procedures. Excellent interpersonal, team, and customer service skills. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to function well in a high-paced, and at times, stressful environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and practice-group specific software.
