Tact Staff is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Charlotte, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Labor and Delivery Discipline: RN Start Date: 12/09/2024 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours Employment Type: Travel Travel rate is available for local travelers if their start date is on or before 12/16/2024. ### RTO after booking is NOT allowed and is NOT allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call offs or additional RTO on unit, could possibly turn into a Cancel and DNR ### REQUIRED SKILLS / CERTS / EXP: Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Years Experience Minimum Traveler Experience: Unit WILL ACCEPT 1st Time Travelers Locals Accepted / Rate Difference: Yes Work Setting Skills: Antepartum, Labor & Delivery, High Risk Antepartum, Level 1 Nursery, LDRP and Mother/Babby *Antepartum Care & Procedures: Assist with sterile speculum exam (effacement, dilation, station, presentation), NST, OCT, Reflex checks/edema assessment/clonus, Sterile vaginal exam, Triage of obstetrical patients, and Use of EGM *Fetal Monitoring Skills: Spiral Electrode Placement, Use of External & Internal Fetal Monitoring, Use of IUPC and Recognition and Treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns *IV Therapy/Phlebotomy Skills: Admin of Blood & blood products, Drawing Venous Blood, Start & maintain peripheral IV and Use of infusion pumps/drips/IV monitoring *Medication & Admin: Anticonvulsants, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, Pitocin (oxytocin), Prostaglandins and Terbutaline *L & D Management Skills: Amnioinfusion, Assist with high risk delivery & vaginal delivery, Circulate for C-Section, Forceps/vacuum extraction, Hemorrhage/shock, Recover & Scrub for C-Section and Sterile vaginal exam *Neonatal Care in Delivery Room Skills: APGAR Scores, Baby Nurse ("Baby Catcher'), Collect cord samples, ID/Security Banding and Radiant Warmers/Thermoregulation *Newborn Care Skills: Assist with Circumcision/Assess site post-op, Car Seat Education, cord care, discharge teaching to parents, infant identification, metabolic screen, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Newborn Assessment and Hypoglycemia, Phototherapy, Teach circumcision care to parents and Thermoregulation *Pain Management Skills: Epidural and General Anesthesia, IV conscious sedation, Nitrous Oxide, Pain assessment & management, and Use of PCA (IV) *Postpartum Care of the Patient with: Vaginal Delivery, C-Section, Couplet Care, Multiple births, Postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy induced hypertension *Professional Topis and Skills: Isolation precautions/PPE and Vaccine Administration Certs: AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, NRP & STABLE PREFERRED SKILLS / CERTS / EXP: Skills: Facility births/month JOB DETAILS: RATIOS: for post partum 1:3-4; for labor 1:1-2; 8 beds for LDRP w/7 overflow beds to accommodate postpartum patients (15 total rooms able to be utilized). SHIFT: *48 Hours Can Be Offered. If Accepting 48 Hours, NO OT billed until after 48 Hours Unit will accept contracts from 13+ weeks up to March 15, 2025 (hard stop) to get the Unit through the Holidays! 12 HOUR NIGHTS; 18:45 - 07:15 Call Requirement: NONE Float Requirement: NONE Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 6 weeks PATIENT DIAGNOSES: We are a community hospital that aims to provide care for low risk maternal and neonatal population. We currently do about 30 births a month but starting Jan 2025, we are projected to do 80 births a month. SPECIAL PROCEDURES / UNIT DETAILS: We are an 8 bed LDRP that has 7 overflow beds to accommodate postpartum patients (15 total rooms able to be utilized). RNs must be comfortable to serve in the role as labor and delivery nurse, baby nurse, baby stabilization if needed, C/S circulator, C/S PACU recovery RN and taking care of the postpartum and neonatal population. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT: Our unit includes standard equipment found on most LDRP unit and C/S ORs.
