Funding Source Functions and Responsibilities Job Summary Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement or designee, the Associate Director of Marketing and Public Relations is responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership and oversight of marketing operations, public relations, and graphics and the Essex County College website. Supervisory Role Oral and written instructions are received from the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement or designee. The Associate Director of Marketing and Public Relations will have direct oversight of the marketing operations, public relations, graphics and the Essex County College website. Duties & Responsibilities 1. Provide oversight and direction for the College's strategic branding, positioning, and promotion. 2. Collaborate with Enrollment Management to evaluate, plan, develop, and implement promotional strategies to meet the College's immediate and long-term strategic enrollment goals and objectives using multi-channel communications. 3. Establish a marketing strategy and operational plan in collaboration with key college constituencies and identification of target markets, to build awareness of the College among key audiences. 4. Direct the development of a marketing plan in consultation with key stakeholders of the College. 5. Write articles and produce marketing publications including newsletters, brochures, direct mailers, college catalogs and take responsibility for story selection and placement. 6. Provide creative direction and control of the College's website and ensure that content is current, relevant and published according to established policies, regulations and protocols. 7. Oversee the work of the Graphics Department ensuring that projects and standards align with the mission and vision of Essex County College while ensuring timely execution of projects. 8. Prioritize and oversee the communication and public relations needs of the College and direct appropriate and timely responses through the development and distribution of press releases, correspondence from the office of the President, brochures, position papers, publications, fact sheets, news bulletins, reports, and related materials. 9. Interpret educational issues and relate the President's position to the media and the public. 10. Manage the dissemination of promotional literature to targeted communities, agencies and institutions. Conduct internal communications to ensure that staff members are aware of programs and events and their role in helping to achieve optimal results. 11. Handle and maintain strict confidentiality in the management of sensitive information including the security of student, staff and client records. 12. Prepare routine, special, and ancillary reports as required. 13. Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Master's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or other related area 2. Progressive work experience in a marketing and/or public relations leadership role especially in higher education. 3. Demonstrated knowledge of technology, social media and the use of artificial intelligence in advancing comprehensive marketing strategies. 4. Experience developing and executing strategic marketing and communication plans, and demonstrated ability to provide vision and strong leadership in related matters. 5. Experience working effectively with senior leadership and demonstrated ability to interact comfortably with diverse, high-profile internal and external constituents. 6. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize assignments, and exercise good judgment at all times while producing high-quality, time-sensitive products. 7. Demonstrable evidence of advanced writing, public speaking, copy editing, and proofreading skills. 8. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 9. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. Education Requirements Master's Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Three or more years of progressive work experience in a marketing and/or public relations leadership role.
