Job Type: Officer of Administration Bargaining Unit: Regular/Temporary: Regular End Date if Temporary: Hours Per Week: 35 Standard Work Schedule: Building: Salary Range: $65,000 - $74,986 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary Public Safety enhances the quality of life for the entire Columbia community by maintaining a secure and open environment where the safety of all is balanced with the rights of the individual. With two Public Safety Operations Centers, on the Morningside and CUIMC campuses, Columbia was named one of the Safest Colleges in America 2017 by the National Council for Home Safety and Security. In a student satisfaction survey released by the University Senate in the spring of 2014, Public Safety was rated highest among all of the campus service units. Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Technical Support Specialist will serve as a liaison between the different units of the Technology Team. Responsibilities Under the guidance of the Director, the Specialist will support the Technology Support Manager by utilizing centralized software to monitor and maintain inventory levels, restocking as necessary. This role involves ordering parts and equipment for services, maintenance, and installations as required. Working closely with the Director and the Physical Security Manager, the Specialist will ensure all necessary components and equipment are prepared for installation. This includes the responsibility of preparing and programming equipment, as well as pre-wiring Lenel enclosures. In collaboration with the Physical Security Manager, the Specialist will assist in the maintenance of false alarms by running weekly Lenel reports and reviewing the configuration of field devices and system settings. Additionally, the Specialist may be called upon to provide coverage at the Manhattanville or CUIMC ID centers when needed. Other related duties may be assigned as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and/or it's equivalent is required. A minimum of 2 to 4 years related experience required. Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational and communication skills required. Preferred Qualifications Experience in inventory control, supply chain management, and purchasing, with computer skills and familiarity with technology based physical security devices preferred. Reasonable technical knowledge of physical security, low-voltage electronics, and related tools is preferred. inclement weather conditions. Other Requirements Must be able to work flexible hours including evening, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to engage in strenuous physical activity, including walking, climbing stairs, carrying equipment and supplies, including boxes, and packages over 25 pounds, as well as standing or sitting for long periods of time. Must also be willing and able to perform duty in inclement weather conditions.
