Apply NowJob Description
American Axle & Manufacturing has openings for Senior Structural Analysis Engineers-Powertrain at its ATDC facility in Detroit, Michigan. Job duties include: • Perform electromagnetic and structural load predications of electric drive unit using commercially available softwares like Ansys MotorCAD, Ansys Maxwell, and AVL Excite and validate the predicted loads with respect to given inputs. • Perform nonlinear structural stress and fatigue performance CAE analysis of internal combustion engine driveline and electric drive unit system/components using automotive industrial nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) tools including HyperMesh, Simlab, ABAQUS, and FE-SAFE to provide correlation between simulation results and lab data and guidance for improving structural design validation (DVP&R). • Perform structural optimization of electric drive units for electromagnetic loads with respect to stress evaluation and suggest optimized component designs. • Perform noise and vibration analysis to predict the performance of the internal combustion engine driveline components and electric drive unit components and engine mounts across rpm sweep using HyperMesh, Hyperview and Sysnoise. • Refine current standard analysis methods to improve prediction fidelity and develop new CAE techniques. • Create and present analytical reports to internal and external customers. Position requires master's degree in engineering, or foreign equivalent education, and two years of experience working in the automotive field in the position of Assistant Consultant, Project Engineer or other Engineering positions. Two years of experience is required in each of the following: • Performing Electromagnetic and structural load predications of electric drive unit using commercially available softwares like Ansys MotorCAD, Ansys Maxwell, and AVL Excite. • Performing automotive industry fatigue using FEA for internal combustion engine driveline components and electric drive unit components. • Performing nonlinear structural stress and fatigue CAE analysis of internal combustion engine driveline components and electric drive unit components using numerical computation tools, including HyperMesh, Simlab, ABAQUS, and FE-SAFE. • Perform structural optimization of electric drive units for electromagnetic loads. • Performing noise and vibration analysis of internal combustion engine, electric drive unit components and engine mounts using HyperMesh, Hyperview, Nastran and Sysnoise. Experience may be obtained concurrently.
