DESCRIPTION OF WORK As part of this role, you will be responsible for carrying out hydrogeologic tasks related to the study, mapping, conservation, utilization, protection, or remediation of hydrogeologic resources in support of the Environmental Cleanup and Brownfields Program. This will involve reviewing hydrogeologic reports submitted by registered professional consultants and providing feedback and suggestions to the Professional Geologist Manager and/or the report preparer. You will be expected to perform professional hydrogeologic duties, which will include reviewing permit applications, technical reports, and plans to assess potential hydrogeology impacts and make recommendations for approval or denial. Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting investigations into incidents of groundwater pollution to determine the extent of contamination and recommend appropriate remedial measures. In the event of emergency situations such as spills or releases, this position will be required to respond promptly and assist or direct cleanup operations as necessary. Overall, this role will require a high level of expertise in hydrogeology and a strong commitment to environmental preservation and protection. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown. Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $56,724 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Possession of an active Geologist-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists; or A bachelor's degree in geology, geophysics, geochemistry, engineering geology, or a closely related field including or supplemented by 30 college credits in geologic coursework; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 30 college credits in geologic coursework. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits. Special Requirements: This position requires possession and maintenance of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
