Description Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions. Acts as Building Supervisor while on shift to ensure safety, daily operations and appropriate shift coverage, working a scheduled/assigned shift. Provides building coverage support when necessary to maintain appropriate staffing levels through collaboration with the other on-call staff. Coordinate, with other Team Members, a rotating schedule for making frequent building rounds that may be documented through a daily log, rounds checklist, or Fire Watch log that include completing a rounds checklist. Reviews shift logs, Incident Reports, and Case Notes daily to determine shift and guest needs. Responsible for reporting new incidents, daily happenings, staff assignments and facility concerns in the Shift Report. Work directly with all Guests, Team Members and other staff to ensure quality services, operational processes and procedures are followed and all daily activities, duties, responsibilities are carried out. Maintain a working knowledge of all Shelter program operations including but not limited to, phone operations, alarm systems, general cleaning needs of the facility, shift rounds, operational paperwork, clerical and/or filing work, (entry) admission and (exit) discharge criteria, emergency procedures, scheduling and computer data entry, building safety, universal standard precautions. Responsible for overseeing while on assigned shift access into the building by means of monitoring and/or assuring assignment of the entranceway during the hours for arrival and departure. Communicate special guest needs to incoming Team Lead Coordinators, and Senior Leadership Team by means of a Daily Shift Report, Incident Reports, verbal reports and shift debriefs at shift change and via email and telephone, if determined necessary. Responsible for responding to all guest and facility emergencies pursuant to established emergency protocols and complete a summary of events on an incident report. When appropriate, this person will meet with staff to review and debrief. Have knowledge of and be able to communicate effectively to other social service agencies and partners to assist with referrals and information to the guests regarding other available services located within the community. Works in conjunction with Operations Director & Director of Systems around safety and staffing needs of building/facility and Senior Property Director around building maintenance, cleanliness and upkeep. The position will ensure Team Members properly administer the Shelter Policies and Procedures in accordance with Agency Operating Procedures (AOP), CARF and Program, Review & Certification Standards (CSB). Participates in departmental and assigned association meetings, training, and special events. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises up to 3-5 team members Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the association's policies and applicable laws Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; developing, coaching, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's Degree and 2-4 years of experience with the homeless population, or equivalent experience and education in a social services or human services setting. Supervisory experience preferred Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Basic intervention skills to solve crisis and non-crisis situations on a timely basis Basic understanding and ability to learn the Social Service agency structure in Columbus and Franklin County Ability to process intakes as well as outgoing guests. Ability to conduct all aspects of the YMCA Overflow program under direction Strong written and verbal communication skills Training requirements: Immediately upon hire : American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications, Narcan, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI). Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others. Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
