Position Summary The role of an Electrician at Empower is vital to ensuring the seamless operation of our facilities and the safety of our equipment, both critical to delivering high-quality medications. This position embodies our commitment to service and quality, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment, supporting manufacturing processes, and contributing to a safe, efficient working environment. The Electrician is key in upholding our standards of innovation and reliability, ensuring our facilities are running at optimal performance at all times. In this role, you will be at the forefront of maintaining and repairing electrical equipment, utility systems, and various facility infrastructure elements. Your expertise will be crucial in troubleshooting, identifying root causes, and implementing both immediate and long-term solutions to electrical issues. As you collaborate with cross-functional teams and assist with projects and preventative maintenance, you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence. Your responsibilities will range from routine inspections and installations to handling complex tasks like working with energized equipment in compliance with the National Electrical Code and Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines. As an Electrician, you will also support our cleanroom and non-sterile lab environments, ensuring that all electrical systems align with our rigorous safety and operational standards. You will develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules, perform detailed electrical construction work, and manage emergency service calls to maintain uninterrupted operations. Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment, utility, and process equipment breakdowns. Performs preventative and reactive maintenance on any facility system and assists manufacturing technicians with process and machinery repairs and improvements. Develops preventive maintenance schedules and/or procedures. Maintains/supports daily equipment, facility, and Water system, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) inspections. Responds to requests for repairs and work orders and includes parts and inventory used. Assembles, installs, disconnects, and tests electrical equipment, motors, generators, control equipment and electronic components using drawings, blueprints, schematics, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) driven work orders, or other instruction. Reference manufacturer's equipment manuals Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs conduit (Electrical Metallic Tubing, Intermediate Metal Conduit, Rigid, Polyvinyl Chloride Conduit coated, Aluminum, Polyvinyl Chloride, Flex Conduit, etc.) to various outlets, equipment, and panels. Installs, maintains, tests, and repairs: lights, lighting controls, alarms, public address, power distribution systems and data processing systems, etc. Performs a variety of necessary electrical construction work. Troubleshoots, locates, and remedies issues circuits by conducting electrical testing procedures. Completes load surveys and necessary tests. Performs work on energized, equipment (when necessary) using Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) approved safety equipment and guidelines. Works with voltage and current (alternating current & direct current). Completes all work within guidelines of Company and National Electrical Code. Develops and performs on job modifications of electrical equipment. Estimates and layout jobs and list bill of materials for work orders. Makes recommendations and prepares list for spare parts, additional stock room items, tools, etc. Supports cleanroom manufacturing and non-sterile lab environments, which utilize manual, automated, and semi-automated equipment in a critical environment. Solve technical issues by identifying root cause(s) and identifying both short-term and long-term countermeasures. Records and documents working history on all equipment for facilities and engineering via a CMMS. Supports projects activities and develops/maintains associated documentation. Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns. Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Communicates necessary information or updates with appropriate departments and maintenance team. Performs other duties as assigned. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to regularly and repeatedly analyze and interpret data; access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other productivity devices; to talk; hear; stand; walk; stoop; kneel/squat, use hands and fingers, to handle, grip/squeeze and/or feel; push/pull and reach with hands and arms; position themselves to retrieve parts from bottom shelf and top shelf, climb stairs and/or ladder to retrieve parts; balance; crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift up to 50 pounds and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of and experience working with single and three-phase electrical systems, electrical control systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems; including air compressors, HVAC systems, boilers, and water/air cooled chillers. Able to read blueprints, drawings, schematics, line diagrams, etc. Ability to work independently. Able to work a flexible schedule (nights and weekends). Project management skills a plus. Ability to work in a clean manner in manufacturing areas. Ability to research parts, drawings, diagrams, and schematics. Experience and Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. Advanced degree or trade school preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience, including 3 years as an industrial electrician, or completion of a 4-year electrician apprenticeship program, with a focus on utility equipment, high/low voltage maintenance, preferably in a current Good Manufacturing Practice regulated environment. Pharmaceutical background preferred. Experience with maintenance management software systems. Experience in performing National Institute of Standards and Technology calibrations recommended. Experience analyzing electrical maintenance problems, troubleshooting, and taking appropriate corrective measures. Extensive experience with automatic and automated HVAC and refrigeration, Electrical, Motors, equipment in a pharmaceutical facilities and manufacturing environment. Experience using basic hand and power tools/equipment: such as hand drill, forklift, and scissor lift. Experience with Microsoft Office 365. Electrician license.
