The CAS team is global, diverse, endlessly curious and strives to make scientific insights accessible to innovators worldwide. CAS is currently seeking a Scientific Writer and Content Creator. This position will be located in Columbus, OH. Position Summary: As a key member of the Science Connect team within the Content Operations Division of CAS, this position is responsible for identifying emerging scientific topics, developing insights using the CAS Content Collection, and creating scientific content, and serving as a subject matter expert to support CAS growth strategies through various content initiatives. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead projects for scientific content generation. Additionally, this role will communicate CAS scientific insights to the scientific community and help promote CAS's leadership position in various scientific fields. Position Accountabilities: Identify, rank and investigate complex scientific topics for better decision-making in content creation using in-depth scientific knowledge and analytical skills Search and extract the relevant data from CAS Content Collection for a scientific topic, and generate scientific insights based on data analysis, in collaboration with the team Work in a team to develop outlines and create content for scientific reports, white papers, blogs or other types of publishable formats. Develop storylines for video production, and frameworks for infographics Promote creativity, open communication, collegiality, and a sense of accountability among teams, as well as create shared vision across team and projects Work independently and solve problems to deliver quality work within expected timelines Serve as a subject matter expert to support other CAS initiatives and projects Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline in Physical and Applied Sciences At least 3 years of independent research experience Broad knowledge in corresponding scientific field and a quick learner in new areas Strong track record of scientific authorship including scientific journals, book chapters, theses, news articles, blogs, etc. Ability to create and reformat different styles of scientific writing suitable for a variety of target audience Experience in providing scientific presentations in various settings, including scientific conferences, webinars, etc. Capable of interacting with external scientific community, gaining meaningful insights, and establishing a network of external collaborative relationships Interest and awareness of market trends and evolving needs in scientific information. Ability and interest to learn more advanced tools in data analysis Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to engage effectively and manage relationships with cross functional teams Ability to work independently and efficiently, manage time effectively and balance competing priorities on a portfolio of projects Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Computer software or programing skills are desired Willingness to travel to scientific conferences as needed CAS offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including a generous vacation plan, medical, dental, vision insurance plans, and employee savings and retirement plans.
