Overview: ABOUT THE POSITION Transportation Planner | Hybrid | New York, NY | Newark, NJ VHBs NYC metro team is looking for a Transportation Planner to join our growing Mobility group. Responsibilities Work with a team of multi-disciplinary professionals to develop mobility and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects Conduct multi-modal transportation analyses Research and interpret transportation data, community statistics and demographics to assess the mobility needs of a community Prepare transportation impact, corridor and intersection improvement studies Conduct safety analysis, develop recommendations, and safety studies Prepare conceptual designs for roadways, intersections, pedestrian, and bicycle paths, etc. Participate in meetings with clients, consultant partners, and other stakeholders Prepare technical reports and present findings and results to clients Project management or serve as a task leader on small to mid-size projects Skills and Abilities A strong background in traffic planning, engineering, traffic modeling, task management, and supervision of professional staff where applicable Skilled in applying transportation planning concepts, practices, and procedures Team oriented with the ability to manage multiple assignments and mentor junior staff Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Ability to think critically and strategically in solving problems and devising approaches Strong writing skills for proposals, technical reports, and memoranda Skilled with industry-standard software design and analysis systems (e.g., CAD, GIS, HCS, Synchro, Vissim) Qualifications Bachelors degree in planning or related field (e.g., Urban Transportation Planning, Environmental Studies, Urban Planning, Urban Design/Studies, Regional Planning, Sustainability Planning, Civil Engineering) Masters degree preferred (may substitute for 1 year of experience) 5 - 8 years professional transportation planning experience required Candidates with AICP are strongly preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Experience with Synchro, Vissim, ArcGIS/data management and/or HCS preferred Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $92,000-120,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience. We are VHB!
