Position Summary: The Columbus Organization is seeking a dynamic and motivated Intern Proposal Writer to assist our Bids & Contracts Department with proposal support tasks. This flexible, part-time, entry-level role offers hands-on experience in the proposal development process, perfect for students or recent graduates interested in learning more about government or corporate contracting. The Intern Proposal Writer will assist with executing a diverse range of tasks within the scope of creating, organizing, developing, and producing proposals and other formally requested correspondence. This position requires exceptional writing, research, and organizational skills combined with the ability to multi-task on multiple pursuits. This position will require occasional in-office meeting attendance in the corporate Blue Bell, PA office location. Responsibilities: Become an integral part of a thriving team with vast potential for personal and professional development Review various websites for bids/business opportunities (i.e., BidPrime, GovWin, state procurement webpages, and Columbus' daily list of tracked opportunities). Read, evaluate, and report on potential Request for Proposals (RFPs) Assist Proposal Team with preparation of proposal responses to RFPs and/or new business in a detailed, thorough, and timely manner. Prepare proposal compliance matrix, templates, forms/attachments, and other response materials to share with subject matter experts for tracking proposal deliverables. Assist with submitting Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and/or public record requests. Other duties as assigned Competencies: Demonstrated interest or experience in proposal, technical, or business writing Ability to work independently and as part of a team, a self-starter Must be reliable, hard-working and have a strong work ethic. Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task and reprioritize work as necessary. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), including Word styles Strong research skills Ability to make decisions and problem solve effectively Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Outlook, and SharePoint is advantageous While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and listen with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle devices or use writing tools. The employee frequently lifts and moves up to 10 pounds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Ideally the Intern Proposal Writer is someone who can work part-time, 15-20 hours throughout the year in the Fall/Spring, AND up to 40 hours per week during the summer. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Travel Ability to commute to Blue Bell Office, PA as needed. Required Experience High school diploma is required. This internship is open to a currently enrolled, Senior undergraduate student with anticipated graduation date of Spring/2025/2026. Position requires that the student be working toward a degree in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, or Communications; however, other degree programs will be considered.
