Summary of position: Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director, the Clinical CoordinatorScheduler is responsible for scheduling, reconciling, and following up on patients' specialty clinic appointment outcomes on Rikers Island and Borough-based jails. In addition, the Clinical CoordinatorScheduler liaises between CHS Clinic Staff, Clinical Leadership, and the NYC Department of Correction to facilitate patient access to specialty healthcare.Preferred Skills:Knowledge of EMR Systems and Advance Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, including Excel and PowerPointDetail-oriented and strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to generate data reports from single and multiple systemsA high level of professionalism, courtesy, a strong work ethic, integrity, regard for confidentiality, and the ability to work with discretion on sensitive mattersAbility to adapt to new situations, collaborate with team members, and work under pressure with minimal supervision, when necessaryExamples of Typical Tasks:Processes referrals for specialty care and scheduling of in-person or telehealth appointments as recommended by the medical serviceAdministrative review of specialty care referrals:Includes confirmation of clinical prerequisites, patient's availability before appointment, rescheduling, reconciliation and notification to the clinical staff of appointment changesProvides relevant information to assist with inquiries related to patient access to specialty care upon requestAssists in planning and development of new workflows to improve and streamline current scheduling procedures as neededPresents progress reports related to the respective task assigned upon requestAbility to provide data reports for assigned specialty clinics upon requestAbility to handle a high call volume, receive and disseminate critical information related to medical servicesOther duties as deemed necessaryQualification Requirements: A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling; andTwo (2) years of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment, one (1) year of which included experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in such occupations as physical, occupational, inhalation, speech and audiology therapy or as MedicalLaboratory Technologist, Microbiologist (various specialties), Chemist (biochemist), Radiation and X-Ray Technician; or two (2) years of responsible level experience in business management systems or general administration including one (1) year in a supervisory or administrative capacity; orA Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines listed in "1" above; andThree (3) years of full-time experience, as described in "2" above, including two (2) years of experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in occupations, as listed in "2" above; orA satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training andor experience.Note: Certification or licensure may be required.
