What will you be doing? As a Senior consultant, you will be working closely with health plan and managed care clients on a range of complex assignments. You will work in a team environment while using your independent judgment and critical thinking skills to gather data, frame situations and provide practical solutions to add value based on client needs. Depending on the client project the responsibilities of a Senior Associate may typically include: Understanding health plan financial and operational drivers with ability to draw insights, influence decisions and drive results by building and managing financial models, conducting financial and operating analyses, and drafting pro-forma financial statements. Developing operational data analysis to develop KPI metrics. Effectively summarizing, drawing conclusions, and creating recommendations from large data sets or analyses. Leading various work streams within a project, including managing day to day engagement priorities with guidance from senior leaders. Preparing client-ready deliverables and presentations; making presentations to clients. Supporting marketing initiatives by assisting with the pitch preparation process and creation of marketing materials. Helping to build products and service offering tools and templates. Discussing organizational framework, understanding key functions and functional interdependencies. Developing health plan payer business models that integrate growth, services, and delivery strategies. Demonstrating knowledge of market and industry trends. Conducting client interviews and actively listening to understand all aspects of client situations and operations. Assisting with recruiting by referring potential candidates and assisting with vetting of colleague referrals. Providing on-the-job training for junior staff while coaching and mentoring; reflecting empathy and providing appropriate feedback and support to colleagues. Building relationships with clients and seeking to expand business/scope; ensuring different perspectives are included in business development endeavors. Participating in industry networking events and engaging with social media to enhance our brand and personal network. Working as a partner to our clients and developing an in-depth understanding of the client's processes, financial positions, and key operational performance drivers in order to surface and address key issues, from the big picture to the smallest details. A minimum of five (5) years of prior work experience in healthcare, consulting, or the healthcare industry such as health plan finance, accounting, audit, managed care, or healthcare operations with a health plan focus. BA/BS degree and/or MBA/MS in Accounting, Finance, or other related healthcare fields such as MHA or MPH. Advanced level of Excel proficiency and experience in financial modeling with the ability to build 13-week cash flow forecast and three statement model from scratch. Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint and Word skills a must; experience with Tableau, SQL, SPSS, Power BI, Action O-I benchmarking, MGMA survey data is a plus. Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or demonstrated progress toward such certifications are a plus. Solid project management and organizational skills. Ability to analyze process workflow, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop solutions. Working knowledge of healthcare industry, including a fundamental understanding of health plan finance, operations, valuation and various laws and regulations. Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to communicate with and present information to all levels of client personnel. Ability to use sound judgment and escalate project issues to project managers or engagement leaders. High energy individuals with a passion for healthcare and solving complex issues. Willingness and ability to travel as required. Compensation Statement The annual base salary range is $125 - $150k commensurate with experience. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance.
