Join MLJ and lay the foundation for a better future.The Project Engineer is responsible for planning all project work, being part of a team to bring the project from design to completion, controlling each of the steps along the way, and solving any problems that occur. The project engineer works under the supervision of the project managers throughout the entire project. Project work is detail oriented, with a focus on cost efficiency; each phase of an operation is evaluated, planned, possibly re-engineered and built with time and budget in mind. The project engineer will be responsible for managing schedule, quality, change orders and engineering relating to specific packages, scopes or work areas. II. EDUCATIONCERTIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).30-hour OSHA and SST certificates are preferred. III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESWork closely with Project Managers on Project Deliverables.Management of key sub-contractors.Processmanage material deliveries - ensure that materials received are properly inspected for quantity and quality and are in compliance with contract documents.Manage and negotiate subcontractor and material contracts.Manage closeout of areas and handover to the clientAssist in updating the project schedule and ensure milestones are met.Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals and resubmittals, including a file of letters of transmittal and dates of each transaction.High level of involvement in the operations of our cost control system and analysis of construction costs.Participate in monthly forecasting revenue and cost accruals.Accumulate all necessary data and prepare monthly pay estimates.Process and estimate change orders and requests for information as directed by the Project Manager.Understand NYC DOB health & safety requirements.Management and mentoring of junior members of the team. Perform any other duties as assigned. IV. QUALIFICATIONS OF THE POSITION8+ years of experienceExperience with MTA andor Metro-North preferred.Proficiency in basic engineering computations and analysis.Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings.Working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.Working knowledge of Auto Cad or drafting software is preferred.Excellent interpersonal, writing, and computer skills.
