Every employee takes a person-centered approach that exemplifies the ICARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence) through empathic communication and partnerships between all persons.Check Us Out OnlineDescriptionPurpose of Position:Under direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, with the broadest scope for the exercise of independent initiative and judgment, organizes, directs, coordinates and evaluates the nursing service and nursing education programs of a health care setting or diagnostic and treatment center; performs related tasks.Roles And ResponsibilitiesDevelops, establishes and implements the philosophy, objectives, policies and standards of the Nursing Department. Organizes the Nursing Department to delineate authority, functional responsibilities and lines of communication. Coordinates functions of nursing services with other disciplines, collaborates with administrative staff, other department staff and representatives of allied groups in planning services. Determines staffing requirements in relation to patient care standards and develops procedures to maintain an adequate, competent nursing staff. Maintains a system of continuing evaluation of nursing service provided for patients. 5. Maintains up-to-date policy procedure manuals for all nursing units and evaluates their effectiveness Establishes an effective system of clinical and administrative nursing records and reports. Directs the preparation of the personnel, equipment and supply budgets for the Nursing Department. Directs the development and implementation of orientation, training and continuing education programs for nursing personnel. Initiates and participates in studies and research projects. Utilizes findings to improve patient care and administrative services.Minimum Qualifications Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State; and, A Master's Degree in Nursing Administration or an equivalent field, and a minimum of four years of high-level responsible experience in nursing administration, three years of which shall have been in a hospital; or, A satisfactory equivalent.
