A top-tier non-profit client of ours is looking for a Temporary Internship Developer: * Starting ASAP - June 2025Rate: $25.50hr Location: Midtown NYC Schedule: M - F, 12pm - 8pm, 3 days onsite. Please note there might be some off-site work involved. Interview: 1 round onsite Summary: The Internship Developer works with LGBTQ and allied young adults to acquire the skills needed to identify career pathways and successfully transition into the world of work. A focus is placed on academic enrichment, college and career readiness, core skills needed for workplace success, and direct connection to internship and employment opportunities. This position requires providing services onsite between two partner organizationsEssential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in recruiting eligible community members for the Unity Works internship program.Train Unity Works participants in career readiness skills.Provide oversight of Unity Works externship placement sites.Engage and maintain relationships with external employers and job development programs (e.g. training and certification for in-demand fields, etc.) to expand opportunity and connection for young adults seeking employment.Facilitate development and implementation of an internship placement program to enhance educational and career outcomes, in collaboration with young adult participants and partner agencies.Work with staff to develop and implement job training, workshops, resume and cover letter writing, internet job search skills, interviewing skills, etc. Provide individual young adults with internship readiness assessment and referral services and enroll members in relevant program services, groups, and training programs.Maintain all client and programmatic files, as required.Participate in weekly Economic Initiatives staff meetings, departmental meetings, and professional development training opportunities.Maintain ongoing attendance records, staff logs and progress reports for all direct service work, including all relevant data entry.Provide Economic Initiatives Manager with monthly, quarterly and annual reports related to direct service work, intake and assessment services, and career development programming for contract reporting.Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements:Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a related field preferred or equivalent transferable lifeprofessional experience.Possess a minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience working with LGBTQ youth and young adults, including knowledge in adolescent development.Previous experience working in job development or career counseling.Strong group facilitation skills.Strong career readiness training skills and experience in employment and counseling skills.Fluency in a language other than English is preferred.Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with a wide range of workstyles and cultural backgrounds.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Knowledge, understanding and experience working with LGBTQ+, TGNC, POC, and Immigrant populations, including knowledge of the spectrum of gender identity, transgender issues, immigration, and POC issues. Understanding of, and commitment to, undoing structural and institutional racism and bias and the spectrum of gender identity and bias. Consideration of the impacts and outcomes in decision-making processes and on underserved and historically oppressed communities.A strong commitment to social justice and the mission of The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center.
