Dynamic and rapidly growing Brooklyn-based fabrication shop is looking for a consistent, organized, hard-working, and self-motivated CNC Operator to help us maintain consistent quality, accuracy, and organization of all CNC cuts completed across multiple CNC operators and machines. The CNC Operator is also responsible for performing machine maintenance, as well as assisting with projects outside of the CNC department. To fulfill these required responsibilities, they are expected to collaborate with multiple departments in accordance with company goals, standards, and schedules.Position Responsibilities include:CNC MachinesOverseeing the performance of daily operation tasks that will be either carried out personally or clearly delegated to other trained CNC Operators.Maintaining organization and cleanliness of the CNC workspace at Kent and Emerson shops.Coordinating with machine technicians to perform routine maintenance as well as troubleshooting errors or accidents when the machine is anizationWorkflow ManagementTimely advance communication to the Shop Foreman regarding operator scheduling of cuts on multiple machines to allow for efficient planning of labor terfacing with the Drafting department regularly on project-based work, receiving tasks, and giving appropriate feedback promptly.Maintaining a consistent cutting queue within established deadlines and municating with the appropriate parties if and why a change in deadline is expected.Catching and reporting bad geometry submitted by the drafting departmentPosition Requirements: Fluent in EnglishProficient in all CNC operations including vacuum pumps, dust collection, machine interfaces, part organization, and maintenance. Communicates well with various departments.Experience with CAD CAM programs is desirable, RhinoCAM is preferred.Forecasting and communicating potential issues before they arise.Highly organized work ethic.At least 2 years of CNC operating with an exceptional understanding of CNC machines and their process.Experience in the fabrication or construction industry is desirable.Must be able to lift 75lbsThis is a part-time, over-hire position available immediately. Work days can range from Monday through Sunday where work hours can range from 1st shift to 2nd shift based on demand. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee should be available during the "core" work hours of the assigned shift and must work the contracted hours agreed upon by the Drafting Manager. Extended hours may be required based on the business need. This position is eligible for Health Benefits after the 12-month ACA Measurement Period based on hours worked. Although we are primarily a wood fabrication facility, we specialize in all types of fabrication and installation projects. This includes large and small experiential events, architectural millworks, custom art pieces, retail spaces, and photo sets. Our facilities have multiple CNC machines, laser cutters, 3D printers, and wood and metal shops.
