About Fid LabsFid Labs is building developer tools tailor-made for robotics, powered by the latest in generative AI. Our coding agent, Fid, understands systems programming languages, tools, and workflows, and makes it easy to work with niche or custom hardware components. By redefining embedded software workflows that have been stagnant for decades, we're enabling anyone to build the next generation of robotics, industrials, aerospace, and autonomous vehicles. We have raised $1.7mm in pre-seed funding from top VCs, including 8VC and Boost VC, and recently launched our first product.The RoleAs the first dedicated backend engineer at Fid Labs, you will lead the architecture and development of entirely new backend infrastructure, especially within compliant cloud environments like AWS GovCloud or sensitive on-premises deployments. You will build infrastructure to meet the stringent security and performance requirements of customers building some of the world's most impactful new hardware. You will also work side-by-side with the founding team of Fid Labs and experience all facets of building a startup. The role is primarily in-person in New York City, but with flexibility around occasional remote work needs.ResponsibilitiesOwn the architecture and development of new backend infrastructureSupport or migrate existing serverless infrastructure as our product scalesWork across the entire product lifecycle from concept to productionCommunicate and collaborate effectively with other code owners and leadershipShape the culture, values, and processes of a young and rapidly growing engineering teamRequirements5+ years of backend software engineering experienceProficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or RustProven track record of architecting scalable and performant backend infrastructureDeep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and systems performanceExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS (including serverless infrastructure such as Lambda and CloudFormation)Experience with systems for information indexing and retrieval or deploying in compliance-sensitive environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Gov, etc.) will make you stand outAbility to learn quickly, operate independently, and exercise sound technical judgment with minimal oversight in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and rapid iteration cyclesBenefitsCompetitive salary and equity compensationUnlimited PTOWFH as-neededHealthcare, commuter, fitness, and other benefitsLunches provided in office
