Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: The System Engineer, under the supervision of the Operations Manager, is responsible for the stability, integrity and efficient operations of the information technology network and systems that support core organizational functions; actively monitoring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all technologies; and being a key technical resource for other Information Technology (IT) staff, providing advice, training and technical support for various projects. In addition, the SE works closely with the IT Management Team and associated staff in evaluating current networking systems and making decisions on future development. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide enterprise level and end user support and troubleshooting for VMware/Citrix/server applications Provide enterprise level and end user support and troubleshooting of Local Area Network/Wide Area Network/Metropolitan Area Network/Multi-Protocol Label Switching (LAN/WAN/MAN/MPLS) Provide preventative maintenance in all information systems core equipment and supporting technologies including but not limited to installing security related patches, certificates and application upgrades Provide support for system solutions related to Microsoft, Citrix, VMware and backup/storage technologies Building of new servers for but not limited to Citrix, VMware, Web applications and Unix/Linux environments Provide support for routers, switches, hubs, firewalls, proxy, and software applications in support of network infrastructure Create and maintain documentation for current system maintenance and new implementations Provide current system information as well as research new system recommendations for technology related projects Facilitate team project development as needed Provide expertise in a consultant role to Information Technology project teams Provide support and ensure access for application team and data center infrastructure vendors to facilitate development and support of current and future technologies as needed Perform other duties as assigned IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Network Operations Manager DIRECT REPORTS: None CONTACTS: Elwyn personnel, IT Department staff and outside vendors EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor 's degree in Computer Science or associates degree in a related field or equivalent experience with Microsoft Server Systems, Cisco, Extreme, Enterasys, and/or Dell Force 10 network technologies and/or, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), (Certified Cisco Network Engineer (CCNE), Certified Cisco Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent networking certification. Five year's administrative experience with Citrix, VMware and Microsoft server technology, networking topologies and experience within an enterprise-level infrastructure Knowledge and understanding of the following: LAN/WAN/MAN/MPLS Technologies Firewalls Microsoft Exchange 365SharePoint 365, Office 365, Azure Administration, Amazon Web Services, BizTalk, Microsoft Teams, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Maintaining servers for standard internet services such as Domain Name System (DNS), Network File System (NFS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Post Office Protocol (POP), WWW, Remote Access Server (RAS), printing and File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Key LAN/WAN components, protocols and associated switches and routers (Enterasys, Cisco, 3COM, Force 10, Extreme). Knowledge and understanding of the following preferred: Linux and Unix systems Microsoft server technology Administration of EMC CLARION, Equal Logic or other Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies Administration of secure WEB access technologies such as Internet Information Ser er (IIS) (e.g. secure certificates, Secure Socket Layer SSL) Windows scripting technologies i.e. Powershell VBScript. Enterprise Level Backup and storage solutions System-level security procedures (e.g. intrusion detection, firewalls)Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly with minimal support and guidanceNon-profit human service experience highly preferred Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities Demonstrated strong attention to detail Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently diagnose, solve problems, and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions Must be able to perform CPR using agency-trained protocols Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of clients and staff Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record Demonstrated ability to document server configurations, implementation configurations, infrastructure design PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL PROFILE: See Physical Demands Checklist below which represents the general physical demands and environment conditions to which the employee holding this position must meet, in addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
