Partner, Internal Communications Flexible Location WHO WE ARE A national nonprofit founded by teachers, TNTP is catalyzing a movement to redesign America's public education system. TNTP's Central Operations & People division focuses on Talent (Workforce, People Operations, Performance Management), and Internal Operations (Enterprise Planning & Operations, Internal Communications and Learning Operations). The Internal Operations team is charged with ensuring staff at all levels have access to the information, resources and connections to do their best work. The team also ensures that staff understand TNTP's priorities, progress and vision and how their work contributes to organizational impact. The Internal Communications team leads our organization's internal communication strategy, infrastructure and best practices in service of those goals. WHAT YOU'LL DO As Partner, Internal Communications you will report to the Vice President, Internal Operations and lead TNTP's internal communications strategies. As a key communications leader, you will work closely with senior leaders to ensure that all internal communication is clear, consistent, and aligned with TNTP's goals and values. You will be responsible for creating and delivering compelling content that engages TNTP staff and strengthens the organization's culture. You will collaborate across leadership to anticipate and plan communications priorities, develop tools to effectively update staff, and improve staff access to materials, resources and understanding that support TNTP's ability to meet our ambitious goals. Some responsibilities and duties may vary, but the role of Partner, Internal Communications includes: Lead our organization's internal communications strategy to build alignment, engagement and optimism in the organization's vision and strategy, support staff in navigating organizational change, and facilitate collaboration and connection across divisions. Advise and support leadership team members on developing a communication strategy to ensure their priorities, path and progress engage and inform staff, communicate change effectively, anticipate and address communications needs and challenges, working closely within the People & Central Operations management team, and across divisions to coordinate internal communications initiatives and facilitating collaboration accordingly. Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure that internal communications are timely and relevant and reflects our organizational story as it unfolds. Lead TNTP's internal communications channel strategy, maximizing impact for a fully remote, national workforce, increasing clarity of access and information so that staff can consistently find updates, information, and materials. Identify opportunities, challenges, themes, and emerging issues faced by TNTP and our staff, and work with divisional leaders, the leadership team, and organizational stakeholders to develop communications opportunities and solutions and execute toward those efforts. Strengthen the internal brand by crafting messaging that resonates with employees, fostering a sense of pride, connection, and alignment with the organization's commitment to learning and evolving as we discover what works best to improve educational outcomes. Proactively identify opportunities to promote employee engagement, celebrate staff and our work, and manage existing internal events and initiatives, like TNTP's Town Hall, to create a positive organizational culture and build connection among staff in a virtual environment. Engage staff in sustained conversations about TNTP's work and values to help refine-and build investment and affinity in-the organization's strategic direction and deepen its commitment to achieving our Employee Value Proposition. Monitor and measure the effectiveness of internal communications, establish feedback loops with staff, and make recommendations for improvements to better meet organizational and staff needs based on feedback and data analysis. Collaborate closely with key internal stakeholders, including the Public Affairs, Internal Operations and the broader communications team, ensuring that all internal communications are aligned with external communications and marketing efforts. Support TNTP's cross-functional knowledge management strategy and the evolution of communications tools and resources needed to execute that strategy. Manage, develop and provide strategic guidance to a team of internal communications specialists, ensuring that all internal communication is clear, consistent, and aligned with the TNTP's goals and maintains a consistent bar for quality. As needed, manage crisis communications, ensuring all staff are informed and up to date. Serve as the internal communications team spokesperson for your team's work. WHAT YOU HAVE Qualifications and Experiences We are looking for a candidate to possess the following skills and expertise: Experience designing and leading enterprise-level communications strategies at a similarly sized organization (500+ employees) is strongly preferred Track record of managing internal communications in organizations undergoing continuous growth and change, such as evolving services, new business models or strategic shifts Superior writing, editing, and visual communications skills, including a proven track record of writing effectively for different audiences and the ability to simplify complex information Experience with content creation and delivery, including varied vehicles and formats (i.e. email, newsletters, intranet content, videos, and presentations), and managing and maintaining the tools to support content creation Demonstrated knowledge and understanding working in and navigating complex organizational structures Experience aligning communication efforts with broader organizational change strategies 5+ years of demonstrated success leading a communications team to strong outcomes and helping individuals you manage reach their full potential Exceptional project management skills Professional fluency in English and Spanish (preferred) Competencies Be an outstanding communicator. You can lead TNTP's internal communications voice while keeping a pulse on internal priorities and staff feedback, adjusting communications accordingly and influencing a diverse group of senior leadership stakeholders, including Executive Team/Leadership Team members, to come to a consensus. You build cross-divisional collaboration, especially with external communications teams, and authentically collaborate, develop, and maintain high-level relationships that build investment in our internal communications and deliver results. WHAT WE OFFER TNTP offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position with the potential for an annual performance-based bonus. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint at the following ranges ($120,000-$150,000) depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. TNTP also provides fully paid life insurance, parenting benefits, lifestyle spending accounts, up to 12 weeks of fully paid medical leave, generous vacation time, commuter benefits, referral bonuses, and professional development. New employees start with 5 sick/personal days, accrue 15 days of vacation during their first year of employment, and receive approximately 24 paid holidays each year-including a Winter Break the last 2-weeks of December. We also provide a one-time home office start-up stipend of up to $1,100 and annual refresher amounts of up to $250/year, a TNTP-provided laptop and cell phone, and a home office stipend of $135/month.
