CHS is also a pivotal partner in New York City's criminal justice reform efforts.Job DescriptionPosition Description:Nurses work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to provide patients with care, education, and support. LPNs participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, based on the objectives, standards, and policies of practical nursing. LPNs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse andor Physician.Scheduling note: Nurses are required to work every other weekend.Preferred SkillsGraduate of an accredited LPN program.Licensed Practical Nurse currently registered to practice in New York State.Demonstrated clinical competence and skills in problem-solving, communication, priority-setting, and interpersonal relationships) with experience in clinical nursing practice as a medicalsurgical nurse, preferably in an acute care setting.Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development through attendance at continuing education in-service sessions and participation in professionalorganizational committeescouncilsBasic Life Support Certification is required; ACLS is encouraged.Detailed TasksProvides basic bedside careMaintains a comfortable, orderly, safe, and clean environment for patientsMeasures & records patients' vital signs (such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration)Assists with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene of the patientPrepares and gives injections and enemasMonitors cathetersRecords foodfluid inputoutputDresses woundsAssists with bed positioning, standing and walking of patients,Collects samples of blood andor urine for testingPerforms routine laboratory tests as directed by the supervisorPrepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications.
