Are you ready for the challenge?Bargaining UnitUUPJob SummaryThe Department of University Police and Public Safety at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Staff Assistant, Police Access Control Unit. The successful candidate will:Assist with the day to day operation, installation, support, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance of electronic security equipment components.Resolving issues working with campus personnel and vendors as needed.Assist with the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and operation of CCTV, burglar alarm panels, and other security equipmentProvide professional guidance regarding software applications for physical and electronic security, CCTV, and related areas for the Institution.Assist with the following on behalf of the University Police Access Control Unit;Order suppliesWork with Contracts & Procurement as well as vendors regarding purchasing and procurement needs and service contractsMaintain records of all requisitions, purchase orders and supply inventory for the unitTracking expenses as related to the unit's budget allocation.Work with University Police Department and its Investigations Unit to help retrieve information and video footagePerform additional job-related duties as required based on the needs of the unit and department.Required QualificationsExperience with low tension installation and maintenance of security equipment such as installing, planning, purchasing equipment and maintain CCTVDVR and related security equipment.Working knowledge of access control, card readers, alarm systems, electric strikes, and control panels.Detailed knowledge of low voltage wiring, installations, running conduit, troubleshooting and working with security system hardware.Experience in networking concepts: LAN, routers, switches and VLANsCapable verbal and written communication and interpersonal skillsExperience using Microsoft Office SuiteRequires flexibility in schedule for occasional off hours supportPreferred Qualifications3+ years' experience working with andor managing security systems in a complex environment.
